ATV advice

Rancher, Rubicon, Rincon... All awesome Quads. Have a Ruby and a 400EX (Big Bore 440 kit) for the "Fun" weekends with my 9 yr old son. Here is a pic of my son and I on one of our "Fun" trips..Hope it comes out. Its hit or miss sometimes with my pics.

I think my next ATV will be a Rincon . . .

I would love a Rincon also. But I think I'm leaning more towards a UTV. Polaris Ranger (Razor is BAD, but not real practical for hauling wood) Yamaha Rhino, Artic Cat Prowler, Honda Big Red, Kawasaki Mule (2 buddies have these, not the prettiest or fastest, but a True Powerhouse). Had my 400EX since July 99. Hard to part with it. Total rebuild 5 yrs ago. All new everything on it. May keep it as a collector anyways. It may be the next Honda 250R.... Another 12 yrs and she'll be a Classic..... I hope. Of not. My Son will enjoy it.

A traditionalist here so I probably will not go the UTV route . . . but you are right . . . they seem even more practical for work . . . with the exception of the Razor which in my opinion looks fantastic.

I have had a couple of ATV'S and finally ended up with a Polaris Ranger. For work it's great and it goes on the steep hills better than my ATV'S. Have room in the front seat for the wife and the dog. It tows as much as my Ford Escape. The utility box is perfect for saws, tools, lawn sprayer, garden tools, etc. It is very smooth to ride, has steering wheel, easy to drive, has locking diffierntal front and rear, not 3 wheel drive, drives down the highway at 55 with no problem. Never regret buying it and I have a good local dealer. Could of saved myself a lot of money if I just would of bit the bullet and got it first.

Your buddy is obviously biased toward Honda ATV's, which is his business. However, the Honda is not "the only quad to buy". There are better rigs out there than a Honda, feature for feature. I've had them all. Honda in no way shape or form stands above any of the others, in any catagory. 15 years ago, perhaps. Today, no way.

Your buddy is obviously biased toward Honda ATV's, which is his business. However, the Honda is not "the only quad to buy". There are better rigs out there than a Honda, feature for feature. I've had them all. Honda in no way shape or form stands above any of the others, in any catagory. 15 years ago, perhaps. Today, no way.

Reliability and low maintenance maybe?

Been reading the responses on this thread and just thought I would throw this out....If you aren't buying the quad for much more than working with maybe consider a small tractor. You can pick up a used 25 horse, 4 wheel drive, diesel, Kubota with a loader and a deck for under 8,000 and low hours. I plow the drive with mine, till the garden, haul a cord of wood, on a 10ft trailer out of the woods, dig post holes, bush hog and the list goes on. Yeah it's not as much fun to as a quad and you aren't going to go ride trails with it just for fun but as far as utility it can't be beat. I have a carry all for the rear 3 pt hitch and between the bucket and that carry all I can haul close to 1/4 cord of wood out of the woods with just the tractor and with it only being 25 horse my trails are as small as a trail you would make for a quad. I should mention to that the carry all and bucket are great you don't have to pick up logs to get them on a trailer you just set either on down on the ground and roll the logs up in the bucket or on the platform.

Uh, no. He services Polaris, Kawasaki, Honda, Artic Cat, Suzuki, Bombardier, Yamaha etc. You may have "had them all", but he has serviced them all. I'll take his word for it over yours, thanks.
