Last Sunday I noticed a crack in the top corner stone of my new Keystone. Never dropped anything on it or overfired so I don't know what happened. Monday I emailed Woodstock some pics and that day they sent out a new stone with replacement instructions. Taking the top off was only 2ea 1/2" bolts right next to the cat they the top just lifts off. Another frame holds the stones in place and there are many gaskets underneath which I think is a good thing so I didn't have to mess with any cement. Gaskets were all good and replacing the stone took about 1/2 hour. Thanks to Woodstock for such quick warranty service with no charge to me.

Good to hear they fixed ya up. Yet another good outcome from dealing directly with the manufacturer.

That's excellent customer service. Stove looks like new again. Very nice. Rick

Yup, a few more of them and we can get rid of those pesky retailers!

Really, though, glad you had a good result. And that is why you buy quality.

Scum of the earth, Franks! :cheese:

Edit: Woodstock does have great customer service!

That's good quick service! It's nice that it didn't happen in winter. Did Woodstock have any thoughts on why it happened?

It's nice to hear a story like that, we all know nothing ever goes as well as it's supposed to. Murphy's law...
congrats on your good news

That certainly does not happen often. But I suppose when you are dealing with rock there can be weak spots. Thankfully you are dealing with a great company that stands behind their product. Chalk one up for Woodstock.

This was a refubished stove and I was told they took it apart and polished the stones and replaced all the gaskets, maybe something happened then?

Glad to hear you got her fixed, definitely helps to have a company that stands behind its products.I was skeptical over Quadrafires lifetime warranty, but they came through despite the fact I only kept the replacement about a month.

That's good to hear Todd! I can see why Woodstock has a good reputation.. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost for your refurbed stove?

Ray

Well ya see, Woodstock still isnt good as PE. PE knows how to hide their cracks in the stove and when you find them they let you pick the welder to repair it. Woodstock on the other hand sends the new part to you and gives you no options. Man, do they know how to ruin the industry or what? %-P Just sayin.

It's always nice to hear a report of a manufacturer taking care of a problem so quickly. People usually only post the bad stuff. Well done Woodstock.

Now you've got a spare piece of stone that you could use for a cooktop, repair, or...

The refurb was $1700 including shipping.

Not bad Todd that's roughly 1/2 of the cost of a new one plus they make it like new from what I've heard.. If I knew one of those refurbs would do the job I'd go for it myself.. Thanx for the info!

Good Grief! I'm gone for a few days and you broke your stove ;)

Good deal on the stove replacement block and from the pictures, it looks like it matches your other stones pretty good.

Bill

Was the crack all the way through? Certain folks on this site, and certain other stone stove manufacturers, seem to think that many cracks are just fine.

Good thing the crack was on top, the other stones look much harder to replace.

Crack was all the way through. Woodstock said since it was on top and an eye sore you should just replace it. Probably best that it happened to the top. the other stones would require much more dismantling and I could see it being a major pain. The new stone matched up pretty good, Woodstock just asked for a few good pictures to make sure they could find a match.
