In The Woods
I said after the Cherry gets stacked, moved some Cherry (two loads) that was stacked to another area then ran back in the woods and grabbed one load then stacked it.

Getting pounded with the rain again but with the forecast for 7-9 days of rain I'll work through it.

Pic 2972 and 73 are the first two loads stacked, 2975 is the area we will put more beech and sugar maple and 2978 & 80 is the Cherry hauled out of the woods then stacked.

How many inches did you get in two days ?

Interesting I am watching how the Myans think that in 2012 the earth will be destroyed by rain and water.

Here we had an inch yesterday and .67 today. Old record was .57 in. But just 10 miles away they got 2".

This is what we are expecting.

THROUGH MONDAY EVENING

* 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.

* LEVELS ON AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS WILL POTENTIALLY RISE TO BANKFULL OR FLOOD IN THE WATCH AREA TONIGHT INTO MONDAY.

NOAH

Our gauge read 2.2" and a friend who lives east of us had 3.75" Looks like we are finally through this batch of rain but now we have possible frost. Sad with all the fruit in blossom.

Weather man said my area has had 10inches of rain above the average just since March 1st. It was well above before that as well. Weather has certainly put me behind.

Thank god we are in an area where we can deal with mud but get away with this w/out major devastation. I feel for the folks along the Mississippi.

After seeing all of your posts, I am glad that my house was built at 1000 Ft+ above sea level- I just watch the water run on past....

High and dry in the woods, the people who did get flooded out in our area have another problem they are checking into, contamination.

Smokin, how much more rain is coming your way? Looks like the river is up half a foot from yesterday, another foot and it will be at flood stage again.

Have not look at that just seen the radar with the storm pushing out of the east. Normally thats where it gets push to. Only seen this one other time where I live now.

It just won't stop. This is 6 months of lousy weather. It can get pretty depressing, we sure appreciate the sun around here. I heard we get less sunny days than Seattle.

It won't be long until we start pi--ing & moaning about how hot it is then we will start on about bring on winter I'm ready then the final one about how we want winter over with and bring on spring...........just a vicious circle.

I thought the same thing--when the dry weather of mid- to late summer is here, we'll all be clamoring for some rain. But this is ridiculous! Never in almost 40 years of living here have I experienced anything close to this consistent rain. BTW, I actually like the dryer season because I don't have to mow the lawn as much.

what are those posts you use at the end of your stacks? Are they pounded into the ground? I have the landscaped timbers, but I am looking for new options for the end of my stacks.

What I use:

T posts (heavy duty, not the light fence posts)
Post driver
Post removal tool

Get them from to your local farm/agricultural supply store store. (Tractor Supply has them.)

Thanks, I'll have to try that, but I worry about our rocky soil. I guess I can try a few spots if I keep hitting rocks. We get some large boulders around here and its hard to know where they are under the ground.
