...and I lit the stove. Just to take the dampness out. Anyone else light theirs up today?
 
Yup, 4-5 splits a night. Few nights ago I was a low of 26 °F , still chilly but days are great.
 
It's 80+ degrees in my living room with the door open and windows open! Stove is cold - might be time to switch on the AC.

Nah. Temp 95 and dewpoint 72. I thought about it but decided to pass on a fire today and run the daylights out of the air conditioners instead.
 
today was actually fairly warm for a change- in got into the upper 60's, & was sunny- it felt nice. :)

I enjoyed it while it was nice- tomorrow is supposed to see a return to high temps in the 40's with more rain/snow, & overnight lows dipping into the 20's. It looks like it might warm up a bit later on in the weekend though.

Did a brief morning fire yesterday. But that is because we were without power most of the day. And I had a lot of pistachio nut shells to burn down.
 
It has finally warmed up here in Pa. High humidity also. No fires unless we run the AC to equalize the temp. Last June we had frost on the ground in the AM of the 8th but I think we are OK this year.
 
Here in the Intermountain NW, it has been cool, especially living in a draw at the base of a mtn. Temps currently 45 outside and wet 72 inside and comfortable. We have been burning most days at least at night and sometime during the day. What is this business about global warming anyway?
 
Local weather often does not reflect global conditions.
 
June 2nd, and I ALMOST lit the stove.
Nice day yesterday, so we had the windows open, and didn't close them last night. It's 41 outside this am, and 62 in here, but I just put on a sweatshirt.
Supposed to be nice again today.
Funny how 62 in the house in the winter feels different than 62 this time of year.
 
Oh yes, those of us that heat with wood are certainly still burning in the northwest. Burned last night to bring the house temps up from 62 to 78 and the wife lit another this morning to bring it up from high 60s to who knows what. It's not so much a function of outside temp as it is a function of indoor temp that determines when we burn wood. I am not going to suffer with 60 degree house temps in December or in June. Temps have been way below normal and snowpack well above normal this year. We have yet to experience a spring season.

Global warming my foot.
 
No more fires here in Arkansas. It's just HOT ! Yet my dog still sits in front of the stove and looks longingly through the glass wondering where his fire has gone.

Salted. Given the small quantity burned I am not concerned about it. It's not like burning a steady diet of driftwood.
 
Our weather has finally warmed up. Last fire was about a week ago. Today I am cleaning out the stove so it will be all ready to go in the fall. :)
 
I almost did last night... but I'm just about to light one tonight 6/2. left the windows open a bit too long and its starting to get chilly in the house. Ok... I left them open on purpose so I could have a fire......

2 things. 1 I love burning pistachio shells. They are super flammable. 2. (this is random and not hearth related) They are so expensive. Do you buy them in bulk or something? I only treat myself once in a while to them because I just can't justify $9.00 at the grocery store for a pack of nuts that will last me two sittings.
 
Whoa, that is pricey. We have them in bulk in our local store for a lot less. Do you have access to a Trader Joe's? They have good pricing and quality pistachios.

Did BeGreen used to have a pellet stove? Thought I remember reading that somewhere. A Quadrafire... Possiblt a CB 1200. Same as what I got? Maybe it was someone else. Thought it was him. But a Pellet stove (Multi-fuel) can burn shells.. Maybe he throws them in the woodstove? Dont know....
 
Yes, we did. I never burned anything but wood pellets in it.
 
we do have trader joe's. I'll check it out. thanks for the feed back. Seemingly everything on long island is more expensive than the rest of the world.
 
My wife says she thinks that Trader Joe has them here for about $6/lb. They sell both regular salted and lightly salted. She gets the lightly salted ones from them.

Yep, I have been burning small fires the last couple evenings as well. They say we are expecting a heat wave this weekend, highs may reach upper 70's
