There are still good CL deals out there. Here is my new stove.

Well, not new, but a 2001 Jotul F3 CB in Blue/black. I looked at it a month ago and I had to wait until this past weekend to get it. Talk about nerve wracking waiting for the seller to contact me. The owner had installed it 10 years ago and put through less than 1 cord in the 10 years. When I removed the flue to the 90 above the stove, there was little ash that fell out. It is clean inside and out. I needed the short leg kit and outlet plate for the top, and it cost me $180.00, but other than that it is ready to go. I will do a complete gasket check at some point.

I will say that if anyone is thinking about blue/black enamel, I would highly recommend it. I just can't stop looking at the darn thing. Short leg kit and plate will be either coming from Maine if in stock at Jotul, or from over the pond in a few weeks. It is going to be one long summer.

Notice the door has the horizontal mullion or is it muntin that the new ones don't have. The wife asked if this is going to be the last stove, I said "sure...for now". I am maxed out in the size of the fireplace opening, so this will be it...for now.

That is a nice looking stove and a great deal. Enjoy the fruits of your patience.

Very nice. I totally agree, the blue-black is my favorite too. Does it have the little start air vent in the oval on the door too?

Thank you. Thanks to everyone here that posted and taught me the intricacies of burning. I did not think that I could have this size stove until reading the many posts and making a very clear, informed decision. Feeding the F-100 every hour does get old sometimes. I am looking to get a slightly longer burn time out of this.

-BG, yes it does have the start-up air lever in the door. I will be sure to shut it down after it catches good. I've read the runaway fire warnings and posts. I've must have read the manual online at least 20 times in the past few weeks.

I will have to get used to the door lever dropping down counter-clockwise, when the F-100 lever opened up clockwise.

Nice stove. You are gonna like it.

I'm glad the door lever is still on the left side, or I just would not know what to do. ;-)

A man can never have too many wood stoves

Thats a great little stove you got there. Blue/Black has always been one of my favorite finishes. I called the the "deal closer" back on Long Island. When one half would say they wanted the enamel because it was easier to clean, and the other half said wood stoves need to be black, I would shows them the blue black and take the deposit. I musta sold eleventy million Blue/Black Oslo stoves back in the good ole days.

Sweet deal, and a nice looking stove. Enjoy !

Great score, fp!!! I'm working towards installing a blue/black one in my fireplace, also, though it's a current model. Same issue with going through the fireplace and a low lintel clearance....thus a short leg kit required. I've also got to build my hearth pad...looking at either 1/2" or 3/4" plywood/Next-Gen Durock, micore 300, tile. I haven't started the actual install yet, though I've had some preliminary brickwork/demo-work done in preparation.

Don't forget that when you remove the stove top to place it back on in the exact orientation that it came off...mark it so you'll know for sure which edge is the front...you've probably already read BG's thread about the air leak he encountered.

Anyhow, best wishes and keep us posted on the progress of the install!
Ed

Thanks everyone. Yes Ed, I did read the recent posts about the top. This one looks like it has set screws on the sides near the top. I hope it will not need much gasket work. This looks almost showroom condition. I'll get pics up when running in the fall. It is funny how much bigger it is than the F-100, I just can't imagine the size of an Oslo.

The Jotuls have a nice graceful appearance and I too like the blue/black enamel.. Is that the one I saw listed in NH Craigslist for 1200 bucks?

No, I did see see that one, used one season. It looked to be sitting in the back of the guys SUV. That probably could be had for $900.00. I paid $500.00 for this one. They received a ton of calls for it, I hit it lucky on this one.

Yes a good deal for sure! I missed out on a Jotul Firelight for $800.00 and that would have been a good deal too.. Now I gotta figure out to do this hearth.. I believe yours came out excellent.. I would love one like that.. Good luck with that stove!

Thaks Ray, I hope the Vt slate can work for you. Thanks for the brew offer. I'll keep an eye on that post for the progress. PM me if you have any questions on the hearth build. I hope the tornadoes down at the Ct. border are missing you. Some scary stuff right now. I have those folks on my mind right now.

+1 - beautiful stove.

find an out of the way place to store the screen accessory. You will never use it. $60 I'll never get back.

I'll try it at least a few time and get it out of my system. Then storage probably. Do you like your F3?
