I removed the wing nut behind the stove but i can't get the metal plate off, any suggestions?

I'm assuming you mean the plate that covers the fines collector box? If it's like the P68, it lifts up. Must be packed full of crap; it doesn't really interconnect with anything. Maybe give it a gentle tap with a small hammer from the bottom of the plate. Never heard of that one before...

Depends on how old the stove is. If it is one of the older models, the wing nut is in the center of the plate and it is most likely the cast fines box cover. The gasket on the cover sometimes likes to stick and makes it hard to pull the cover off, maybe use a small screwdriver to pry it off. If it is one of the newer models, the wing nut is on the bottom of the cover and lifts up and out as newf lover stated.

Yes, it is the cover for the fines box. Wingnut is in the center. I've never taken it off (approx 5 Yrs). I 'll have to gently pry it loose. Thanks.

5 years? Wait til you see how many fines are in there!!!!

if it is center, you gotta grab both sides and pull. if it hasn't been removed for 5 yrs, then it might come off a little rough. tap w/ a hammer. This is a testament to the Harman unit, for sure. 5 yrs not accesing a pretty crucial yearly cleanout point shows the durability of the system.

OK, got it! A couple of taps with a hammer and a pull. 5 seasons without taking it off and it was only about 30% full of fines. For those wondering, I try to only buy Greene Team. They burn the best for me, and are apparently clean pellets. Thanks for all who helped. This forum is always full of great info.
