I saw on the Binghamton news that the Deposit plant is up and running. Has anyone heard about an open house? Jeff

Their probably going to give away a bag of puffed up water damaged unsold pellets they've had stored outside in the parking lot from the last two winters. They were trucking them down from their Schyler plant and storing them at the Deposit site. On a positive note, maybe with them up and running now, it might drop the cost to us locals as now we'll have some competition.

I drove past the plant about a month ago, and a lot of steam coming from (what I believe to be) the dryer. They also built a large covered yard outdoors and were filling it with chips/sawdust.

I agree with what minnow said.....the thousand or so tons of pellets they brought down from the Schuyler plant have been sitting out in the snow and rain for a LONG time! :eek:hh:

The pellets sitting outside I believe are for the gas drilling that is going on down there. But don't hold me to that I just know that they sold most of it to the gas companies. I am asking Schuyler if they have an open house planned or not and will post an update.

So thats a no. I burned some from the schuyler plant last winter they were great in my p38. And as far as I know no gas drilling is going on down here, no fracking anyway.

There is gas drilling going on out in Chemung and Allegany counties as well as just over the border in PA. I wouldn't mind trying them but I'd want to be assured that they were not the old stock. Probably wait until end of 2012 to be sure all the old stuff is finally gone. It will be interesting to see if the Deposit plant pellet quality is better than the Schyler plant(which has had a not so good reputation). I've read on here that the Jeffers NH plant makes a decent pellet.

I burned 2 ton last winter and they were decent burning pellet. I got better heat and less ash than the previous years stuff.

Well I couldn't get an answer on if they will be having an open house or not. Sorry I tried if I happen to hear any thing I will update.
