Feeling the Heat

I just did my yearly cleaning and noticed that my heat exchanger and rest of the interior was showing rust. I had done my weekly cleaning a couple of months ago and never ran it again . I think that it might be better to leave a coating of dust on the interior rather then have it rust during the layup

Mike from England Stove Works seems to be a big fan of spray graphite. Not sure if it helps with the rust. I would think it would.

Maybe WD-40??, but it is flammable.

I use a light coating of PAM. Just spray on a light coat.

X2 on the Pam... Pam and it will never rust... Better yet, Paint the inside. I waited 3 yrs and just did mine looks brand new again. Also add something to absorb the moisture.

Cause your adicted and still in denial stages! :) hehe!(jk)

To the OP,
I have done both and seen first hand what the moisture absorbing ash can do(RUST!). Best to clean it and coat it with something or use damp rid. Don't forget to disconnect the OAK and pliug the vent pipe. Also put a note on the stove or in the hopper that the "vent is plugged".

Did the pam thing and also put a pack of silicon bags in there..

This past season was our first time heating with pellets and i learned so much from you guys. Here it is July and i'm just reading about the rust problems due to humidity, so glad i joined this forum.

I leave mine dirty till the fall. No rust ever anywhere on either stove , inside or outside.
If you have a problem with dampnes or excess moisture and your stove gets rusty you should probably be addressing the cause of the moisture and not the effect or result of it.

buy beef jerky/etc and throw the packets in the stove after you've enjoyed a nice snack :)
