In The Woods
I went up top to work on that downed sugar maple but we had some deer having a meal so I left them alone and cut up some smaller sugar maple that was down plus the one that was hung up that finally came down.

I did grab two ironwood with more up there.

Attached are some pictures.

Good for you for leaving that area Zap. That is what we do and the deer get used to that too and know that we will leave. Of course there are always some that are flighty but most are cool and calm. I just returned from a bike ride and saw several deer. Only one fawn though.

Did a similar thing last week. Had a blow-down Norway a couple of years ago. I left the stump about 3 feet high at the time; and now has re-sprouted. A young buck is roaming the neighborhood, and has eaten most of the sprouts off the trunk.

I haven't seen deer around here since we moved in about 4 years or so, but occasionally see the turkeys that where hatching then.

Looking good Zap, my buddy has the biggest iron wood I've ever seen growing in his yard.(city yard so it's kind of out of place!) He's having it removed soon to make room for a shed so I've staked my claim on the tree.

The other day the wife and I pulled onto our road and a doe was nursing a spotty right in the road! The little one wasn't happy when mommy decided to move. :)
