Just went to HD. They have pellets out front, Augusta ME, with a big sign saying $197. Clerk says it is Stove Chow
They are doing a comparison to TC of @$214 and Lowes for $274.

Nice price! I'm entering my first year with a stove but already bought five tons. The cheapest of which was $225. I'm tempted to get some stove chow even though I have plenty. I've heard good things about SC.

I'll have to check out Windham and the surrounding area HD to see if they have Stove Chow. You guys really like it?

Last years Chow was very good in my Harman P61A but you should know that Harman stoves are very forgiving and will burn and adjust to anything. Many folks here loved them last year but NOT everybody. Plan on them being fine for the shoulder seasons but you may want to get a better quality pellet for the coldest part of the season. In my case, I choose to burn the Greene Teams which are 100% hardwood during the heart of a Massachusetts winter. Maine is likely to be a bit different. JMO.

Yep! Chow did good for me too! 2 tons consumed without an issue. But so did the MWP's. Just wish I could score them for the $199 price the Maine folks are getting them at!

Enfield HD has 3 ton Chow out front with a sign saying $197 vs TSC for $219 and they only sell Instant-heat-Less!

saw them in waterbury, ct location as well for $197/ton..........

HD in rochester NH has stove chow for $197 ton, the bag dose not say if they are hard or soft wood. Dose anybody know what they are before i buy? thanks

Any comments on the quality of these pellets? i hate to buy them if their junk.

I can get the $197 price at my local HD but I need J's vital statistics on the stove chow. Based on that I will take the chance on a ton or two.

geek where did you see these and was it stove chow too?

front door at the Waterbury location, Stove Chow.

HD in Dartmouth, Mass has Stove Chow @ $197.00. Saw them Sunday

I would wait till they have their "Buy More Save More" sale around the first few weeks of September. Last few years it was $200 off five tons, that would bring the price to $157 a ton. Depot near me charges $60 to deliver brings it to a grand total delivered at $169.

I'll be waiting since I've still got 3 tons stacked and ready to go from last year.

Thanks for the tip. Does every home depot have that sale? I wonder. I have 4 tons now and it will be my first winter of heating but I can't pass up a bargain I just don't know where I will store any extra.

Mike

This is a promotion that all HD's run during the beginning of the season to quickly sell off some inventory. It goes for 3-4 weeks and actually last season between Thanksgiving and Christmas the price was down to $189 which was about $20 cheaper than the preseason BMSM promotion. Then the cold snap came in and the price when back up to $209 then $259 then $299 ($5.97 per bag) as we all saw.
My store on the Mass – RI line has Stove Chow also.

I just picked up a ton of Stove Chow at home depot in Biddeford Maine. The price was $197.00, I hoping these will be a good shoulder season pellet. For the winter I picked up a ton of PWI super premium pellets (hardwood). The dealer stated that these are better then Cubex. The PWI were $255.00 a ton. Any comments on either pellet would be appreciated. Thanks

The Stove Chow are a good pellet. Probably better than shoulder-season. If the quality is the same as last winters batch, I wouldn't hesitate to get them.

I have no experience with PWI, and while they may be a very good pellet, I find it hard to believe they are better than Cubex, which are the best hardwood pellets AFAIK (and yes, I HAVE burned them).

Could it be that that your dealer just happens to not sell Cubex? .......that might explain his statement. Usually dealers will downgrade anything they don't sell themselves. We have had reports of dealers telling prospective customers that Infernos were a GREAT pellet. :gulp:

Wondering how long $197 will last?, too bad the 10% moving coupon is not offered anymore
