As most of you know we're in the middle of a hot humid heatwave. Just noticed that my basement install has condensation on the inside of the window. We run a dehumidifier in the basement and the outside humidity is reading 94% while the basement is around 50%. I'm not sure if this will become a problem (rust etc)...any thoughts?

On another note, when I opened the door to check things out a small wasp like bug flew out. If they've set up shop there, what is the best way to get the nest out...a fire?

Short Hot fire = Wasptoasties, I noticed the other day the little devils are setting up shop under the storm collar. Looks like a job for Johnson & Johnson ( Raid).

Be careful. If this is a major nest and you need to get up on the roof to deal with it, understand that they will most likely attack you. And they go for the eyes first. Have a safe exit plan before starting.

Ya, exit, like jump off the roof. :bug: Those things can get nasty. We found the foam spray seems to work best in the chimney situations. I would not worry too much about the moisture but there are products you can buy to just sit in the stove to soak up moisture if you are too concerned. Usually the condensation is short lived and once this pocket of awful air moves out all should be fine.

This happened to me too. You need to close the vent on the front of the stove. Warm moist air and cool air conditioned air will cause condensation. Keep the air vent on the stove closed and you shouldn't have this problem again. Hope it works for you.

I'd locate a can of "Pow" and use its concentrated stream on them from a safe distance.

Hello

I kill wasps and bee hives around my house all the time. When I was little my father called an exterminator to kill a large bee hive. All he did was wait until after 10 PM when it was completely dark. At this time they are dormant. Then Just spray the raid all over the nest and you will never get hurt! That is the secret that they do not even put on the can of Raid!!!

In regards to the condensation, I put about 2-3 cups of kitty litter in my ash pan to absorb the moisture during the off-season. Just an idea!

Just wondering....how does a wasp get into a closed stove? Did he pull a Santa? Good thought on the Kitty Litter. i might try it. Mabe I'll get the Arm and Hammer type. day before yesterday i noticed a bit of an oder as i waked by the stove. first time this year. i attributed it to the "heavy air" because of the humidity and heat.
