Well while at lowes in killingly i bought 3 bags of the Green Supreme for trial. Now since i bought my stove last winter i had been buying assorted bags for trying.
I bought 3 bags maine wood pellet, 2 green team, 2 inferno, 1 ton of instant heat ( hope they burn ok after the recent bad reviews) and 2 tons of stove chow. The wife asked me while at lowes i thought it was gonna save us money lol. She just doesnt understand how we feel in regards to buying pellets. Ill show her when the Firgid Cold comes through lol.
I just tell her would you rather pay a small bit of money now or dump 600 into the oil every 1.5 months for oil? Hmmmm

On another note when can i get to pig status haha, my side room of the barn can maybe fit one more ton. Also what pellet would be good dead of winter for the really cold months?

Im thinking i will burn the instant's for a shoulder pellet.

3 tons(self hauled in your gas hog) before 1st frost of the season gets you in. Sounds like you have enough, But another ton will ice the deal.

I have heard the instants improved a bit, But they should be fine for shoulders.

I usually have enough for the next season by April/May. It doesn't stop me from looking and I got real good at dodging the swinging purse. :cheese: The thing is buy when price is low and sit on them. Buy more than needed to be sure you have enough. You wont need to skimp with them and you can keep the house plenty warm. Warm house = happy wifey! Just makes life easier for me. She wears far less cloth's when the house is plenty warm, If you know what I mean!

All 3 tons have been hauled by my self in my ram 2500 and unloaded by hand and restocked and bagged. As far as another ton I want to find something that is supposed to be real hot and a good backup. Maybe just buy another stove chow

Those 3 tons of self transported & unloaded pellets makes you an official Pellet Pig. Oink Oink!!
To make it final, please place the following in your signature line:

As for real cold weather pellets, the ones that make the real good heat are normally going to be a bit more $$. Can you tell us all the pellets you have in your area, and prices? Have you checked the "Fuel Price Report" link at the top of the page?

Don't know on pellets (way too expensive to use that up here) but I guess I am a firewood pig. Have finishing up the last load, have 12 cords in all. I only burn about 3 cords a year. Totall $$ into it? $900.

9 tons in my basement... Bought 5 ton last Jan then 2 more ton the begining of April and 2 more ton at the end of April.

2 of those ton from kinsmanstoves (always a pleasure).

My wife hates the "Addiction". But loves the stove, flame, and savings...

Hello

Since 1 Ton of Pellets is approx 125 Gallons of oil realisticly. So I have about 3 Tons for the winter.

If I bought 375 gallons of oil for heat next Winter at an avg price of $4.00 per gallon that is $1500.00

See the wood pellets I bought in the chart below for $620.44 and use NO oil for heat!

$1500.00 - $620.44 is a savings of $879.56 or more if oil goes higher !!

So show this to your wifey!

I haven't heard this at all from the one that you must not make mad.

I was told I was the keeper of the flame, the tiller of the soil, the keeper of the animals, mower of the lawn, head preserver of food, laundry room operator, and snow removal Bear. For doing that I get the fringe benefit of being, fed on occasion, able to go out hunting, to brew all the beer I want, and not be bothered by the one that you must not make mad..

Menards here in Mid michigan has somersets $174.00 ton. Now I know what a Pellet pig feels like :)

Where is your menards location?I live in southern MI.Thanks, coobie

Davison would be the closest for you I-75 to I-69 Irish road exit left on court street
Make sure to look at the Pallets if you go there scattered all over. One kid said they
had 4 or 5 semis of pellets,Black bags = somersets they sometimes carry Michigan pellet co
and junk Pennywise..they have or had lots of Somersets today.. Good luck

picked 5 bags of okies to give a try today.

My kids and wife just shake their head. All I talk about is my pellet stove. I had it installed in April (P61A) and ran it for most of the month. I am actually looking forward to winter to crank up this baby....... and I hate winter.

Anyway, I had 4 tons of AWF's deliverd back in June for $209/ton from woodpellets.com. I have 5 bags of Barefoots from the freebies that the dealer gave me upon install. I have picked up 10 bags of Maines Choice from Agway at 4.50 per bag, 10 bags of Stove Chow at HD at $3.94 per bag, and 10 bags of Green Supreme from Lowes at $3.94 per bag. So a total of 4.5 tons and I will probably pick up some more (10 or 20 at a time) as I visit HD and Lowes as long as they stay at that price.

Although I'm REALLY new to pellets (this is my first year). I find that its not difficult to get caught up in buying/transporting pellets. I've alredy got 1 1/2 ton in my basement, and have already paid for another ton (just need to pick them up and haul them home). Plus I see my local Lowes has about 15 -20 ton of presto pellets which I'm going to pick up about 25 bags.

So without much effort of going looking for pellets, I'm going to have 3 ton by the end of August!!

I'll end up with 2 ton of barefoot
1/2 ton MWP's from Home Depot
1/2 ton Presto from Lowes

Plus I think they guy up the highway near me has New England Pellets. May get a few bags of those, but I think he'll only sell by the ton.

Every now and then I still get the eye rolls and groans when I go any where near pellets
but I don't let that slow me down. :)

If I see a brand I have never tried before, I will pick up a couple of bags to try out.
