Got 2 tons today for $168.50 a ton and no sales tax! Pretty happy about that one! :) Back tomorrow for two more I hope! :)

Where and How?

Lowes has Green team for $197 a ton (3.94a bag) - Put them on your lowes card and you get the 5% off, I used the 10% lowes moving coupon (although she couldn't get it to go through so she rang in the military discount for me) brings the total down to 168.50 (3.37 a bag) and tax free weekend in MA. :)

pellets are just like heating oil, tax free.... for now...lol

Just an FYI - there is no sales tax on pellets in MA

No tax for pellets in Massachusetts currently. Sure they'll find a way to get it on them someday..................

Come to Ohio. They TAX the $H!T out of everything. Now Breaks, or Freebies here and there is a much better selection of pellets up there (New England area).

Congrats to the OP (Steph2078)... Good Price and a Great start to your season. Way to go.

Do you normally pay sales tax on pellets? I don't think we do here but I've only bought a few bags so far since I don't even have the stove installed yet.

No sales tax in Maine

great price i would buy a few tons if i could get them even close to that . ill be checking the bloomfield ct lowes to see what they have in stock at what price. i burned the green teams last year and thought they were a decent pellet

Thanks everyone! Well... Looks like I am clueless when it comes to the sales tax! I don't think I ever realized that they didn't tax pellets! :) Still love the deal I got either way!
I burned Green Team last year as well, and I don't think they are "as good" as Barefoots, but.... Barefoots are selling here for 298 a ton, so for the small difference in temp, I'll take the almost $ 130 dollars to keep in my pocket! :)

Hello

Oops, when I got the NEWPs at Lowe's with the price match and the military 10 % I forgot to put it on my Lowe's charge card for the additional 5% off!! That would have been $3.37 per bag and I paid $3.55 per bag. So thanks for reminding me when I get more!!

Oink Oink, Nice to be a pellet pig but get the discounts because you cannot do that for oil! My oil company says I get 10% off by paying within 5 days but in reality I am paying more if I do not pay within 5 days!! That is not really a discount!!

Which lowes is this? I bought Green Teams at the Lowes in Leominster and when I went to pick them up that weekend they sold mine. I told the specifically I wanted GT and they said yes no problem. Well I guess it was too hard for them to understand. Manager said they were getting some last week. No go, and the person I talked to said they are having problems getting the GT.

Not sure if it's too long a drive for you, but Worcester Lowes had a few pallets of Greene Team yesterday. I went to the Leominster one and saw some Greene Team's off to the side with SOLD written on the outside and it looks like someone took out the sides of the bags on the pallets with a fork truck! Doh!

I thinx my CT neighbors must be summer dazing. Anyone know what Waterbury CT has in stock??? Got a bud looking for the GT's. Maybe Naugy too?

From GT just now....

We have received purchase orders from for stores the following locations:

Please note the date(s) below are just "projected" ship dates. The actual ship date could be a few days earlier or a few days later. I would call the store ahead of time to confirm that the pellets are in stock and ready to be sold.

1 Lowe's 1198 WOBURN, MA (781) 376-5500 22-Aug-11

Thanks for the thought. I called Worcester today and said they didn't have any GT's left. Maybe I will stop by tomorrow just to make sure. Leominster said they will be getting 2 trucks the end of the month. They also said they are all already sold, but I will get my 2 pallets. They do have lots of skids of Green Supreme's though.

Jeez, the ones they haven't even got in yet are already sold? Doh, was hoping to score a ton or two... oh well, I got 20 bags to try maybe I'll just get some more MWP & Green Supreme instead.

I called Lowes and yes they will take another 5% off with the card,of the 197 per ton. Delivery to my house is $65 thou (more then the 16 the lumber yard charges and they bring a pallet jack to move them to where I want them). I asked an employee and he claims Lowes is selling pellets at a loss.
They have Green Team and NEWP, both about the same quality (only familiar with NEWP-which I thought where ok,not great but not bad)) correct ?

I got a ton of Green Team this past Tues. at the Lowe's in Danvers. Before I ask, I always look around and I saw a lonely ton of Green Team up in the rafters.

So they weren't going to sell them to me claiming that someone was picking up 11 tons the next day and they needed them, but would sell me something else??
They had TONS of Nature's Own and NEWP. When I asked them if the person they were selling the 11 tons knew they were getting 1 ton of Green Team they sort of stammered. They insisted that the other pellets were as good and why not take a ton of them.

I said no thanks and they then relented. Bottom line is they were probably too lazy to get them down, or they were saving them for one of their employees?
