Installing the firestop in a vaulted ceiling (not cathedral and new construction). Bought a vertical installation kit from Dura Vent. How do you install the firestop so that there is a clean seam between the firestop and drywall? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

If you are using the ceiling support box, THAT is your firestop for the ceiling.
There should be an adjustable trim kit included to make a clean look.
If you are penetrating a floor above that, the firestop goes in the floor.

I guess my question is not exactly clear. The ceiling is vaulted (not cathedral) and there is about 5' between the bottom and the top of the joists. I bought the DV flat ceiling kit, so there is no cathedral box. Rather, I simply framed a flat spot for the firestop at the peak. If I understand this correctly, I will have a firestop and an insulation guard that will effectively sit on the top and the bottom of the joists at the ceiling. Given that the firestop has no flange, but just screw holes in the corners, how do I mount it so that it is "clean". I would like to leave a 1-2" gap between the pipe and the drywall and then screw the firestop into the drywall. Is this acceptable or does the drywall have to butt up to the edge of the firestop?

I don't exactly understand what the configuration of your firestop is,
but for MOST manufacturers you have to leave at least 3" of clearance from
the sheetrock to the pellet vent in order to be code compliant.
Your install manual should have that information...
In the past, I have cut an octagonal hole in the sheetrock which both
met the 3" clearance & alloed me to have 4 small areas to attach a drywall
anchor, like the ones made by Rawls...

drywall needs to respect the proper clearance to the pipe, but the flange of the pass thru can overlap the drywall.
