A buddy of mine I work with had some trees taken down that were a little to close to the house then he wanted. I spent a few hours bucking logs, and cleaning up his property for him this morning, and got a good jump on next years wood. Theres still another good sized sugar maple, and a bit more of the ash thats pictured that I am gonna go get next week. I know the trailer is grossely overloaded, but I was only going a few miles down the back roads to my house. I have never burnt any ash, but know its good stuff not to mention the stuff slipts like a hot knife through butter !! I ended up cutting this all with the little Husky that could, since the dang Stihl decided it didn't wanna cut good today. Not sure what it's problem was, but it needs a new chain anyway so I guess I'll start there.

Darn sure know I like them, bigger the better nice and round.... ;-)

Those will make some nice splits.... Congrats....

I've had rounds of ash twice as big as that (not kidding). My FIL was cuttin them for me from a massive tree he had cut into 12" lengths and that a kubota had moved into a line for him. He didn't want to spend as much time/energy/chainsaw gas cutting, so he cut the rounds for me ~20" thick and they were easily 32-36" in diameter. We put ~4-5 at a time in the bed of a chevy 1500 6' bed, with 3 people lifting each one into the truck.

I absolutely love ash. It's bark makes the best damn kindling, it splits SO beautifully and cleanly, it's roughly 30% MC when it's newly split. It seasons quick. It's a good balance of easy to light/burn and good BTUs per cord.

Keep on cutting Indiana; you are doing fine.

Bah, ash is light, that's only a 1/2 load. But seriously, very nice score, as Dennis said, keep cuttin, the stuff is great firewood. A C
