Hi all, a newbie here.

I have ordered an osburn 2400 and ss liner kit. anybody have any hints on the install? what is the typical packaging... a single unmovable box or a couple of them? I figure it'll have to be opened up out at the street and the parts taken out so it will be liftable?

how about the fan power wiring... do I need some high temperature capable wire?

any tricks to the assmebling?

thanks.

I've read the osburn 1800 thread...

Well, so far, 1 crated wood stove with blower attached. You'll be surprised hat how little holds the blower on I'm still expecting my surround and gold door :-( I guess Osburn REALLY underestimated the number of inserts vs freestanding stoves this year.

Just plug in the cord. Nothing back there gets hot. All the heat comes out the front of my stove. Even the cement board immediately above the stove stay's cool if the blower is running, and it always is.

Well, you've got my suggestions. Look at my pictures also.

darn! the abf truck was too big to fit through an access tunnel to our neighborhood so now I have no stove.

they say its on a 4x4 pallet that is 545 pounds... and invite me to come get it at their depot 30 miles away....

wasted a day waiting around to receive it... and I was so very close to having everything in and running for xmas.

Say what? ABF is fresh out of pickup trucks? Methinks they took the shipper's money to deliver that stove and chimney kit to an address. Time for them to get off their butts and deliver it to that address.

If they don't and you have to go get it, report that crap to whatever version you have of a State Corporation Commission. I know you are going to go get the stove to get it burning and that is why I say do it after.

State regulators iritate the crap out of freight companies. It is a sport for them.

well, the seller took $100 off the price because of the delivery problem... which turned out to be how much the abf dispatcher wanted on the side for him and a moose sized buddy of his to bring it up in the back of their pickup and roll it into the house. happy happy.

now that it is in hand, more questions....

the outlet is a flush connection but there is a circumferential gap between the vent space and the exhaust port that would be open to the flue if I use the flat connection chimmney liner adapter that has been supplied. I expect this gap is there so a chimmney pipe could be inserted? or is it some kind of addition to the draft going up the chimmney?

my thought so far is that it needs to be sealed off with some of the high temp mastic the instructions tell me to seal the adapter against the stove top with (after drilling/tapping for a couple retaining screws).

has anyone else dealt with this gap/a flush chimmney liner adapter?

Picture?

Yup...Just look at my 1800i install pictures. I'd bet it looks just like that!!!

I sealed mine with refrectory cement once the pipe was in place. Not an easy task.
