I thought I would post a photo of the supply for this winter. My brother and I split a logging truck of mixed tamarack/red fir/and white fir- about 14 cords total. 2nd winter with wood heat, first winter prepared. Thanks for all the input. included is a photo from 2 days ago with a thunderstorm I was waiting out in a shelter.

Cheers,

Ray

Oh yea! Got this year c/s/s and then some. What a great feeling. :coolsmirk:

Got 6 cords of maple, 3 cords hornbeam and 1 mixed yellow/white birch with a little ash. That's more than we typically use, but you never know. Got it all bucked and about half split.

All set here. Sweet lightning shot.

The wood is ready, the stuff getting torched this year has been waiting since the spring of 2009. With that said the new stove needs to get installed, still not sure when that's going to happen, I'll be running out of time shortly. The current stove is up to the job though so I'm fine either way.

2 yrs ahead, mostly oak and losust. Feels damn good.

How did you get three cord of Hornbeam...don't they only grow about ten feet tall?

Yep - ready to go! 5 cord of red oak, cherry, ash, white, black and yellow birch, and little red maple - all stacked since spring of 2009 - should be AWESOME burning!! Cheers!

Awaiting some cold nights with about 3 1/2 cords of white ash and 1 1/2 cords of black locust...all c/s/s over a year. :cheese:

Nice pictures

Ready for winter?
I'm never really ready but
I do have the wood shed almost full again.

I put up 3.5 cords of mixed conifer. I need two more cords, but the woods are closed to firewood cutting until the fire danger goes down. So I have been out scouting LP/DF/WF snags.

Im always ready for winter, its my favorite season.

I don't know about ready, but definitely willing and able. Oh yea, we got 11 plus cords c/s/s, 7 from 2010, plus 3 to 4 piled in rounds waiting for the weather to cool off.

I've got a cord plus well seasoned pine, a cord plus black locust and a cord plus mulberry ready to go. I am also 2nd year burner, 1st year well prepared. 12-13 has black and white oak, more mulberry, hackberry, cherry and silver maple. 6.5 total, should last me 2 years...

You oughta' live up here.

The more snow and colder the better, If my wife agreed Id live up in the Green Mountains.

I am set for this winter and probably next, but still feel like I need to get cutting to stay ahead. Neighbor has a couple of trees he wants to remove, I just need to find a day when both of us can fire up the saws.

I have this year and next c/s/s. Been doing other things and have not cut anything in over a month...starting to feel guilty about it! Hope to set the posts for the woodshed this weekend and in a few weeks get it filled! Then maybe I can get back out there with the saw.

Ready. About 5 cords of mostly Black Locust with some Oak and Ash. Next year will be the rest of the Black Locust and then some Red Oak. Gonna be nice and cozy at my house!

With wood stacks....Its a lifestyle! Now hows your food production going! ;-)

I'm set for this winter as far as wood goes. Just need to move some wood into the basement in late October or November.

Want to get my stuff set up to run on a generator in case we get another monster ice store like we did last winter.

We will find out. about 5 cord, and a full pig.

I am with lukem, I can run on a gen but would like to have an easier/better set up. Not much just more plug and run.

I've got White Ash, Black Cherry, Sugar Maple. It was all c/s/s from one to three months ago, except 1/2 cord of Ash which was stacked early this year. Maple is dry branches. I also have a little dry Red Oak, Black Locust and Dogwood, about half a cord. The all split fairly small, and luckily, we've still got a couple more months of good drying weather. I think my wood will be ready to rock when called upon. Also got three other households set for this year. Now I can get some other warm-weather stuff done around here...then start piling up wood for 2012. :-S
I'm never ready for cold weather, though. Mid-90s the next three days and low (for here) humidity. August rules!
