I got an old (I would guess '80s?) Echo pro saw from a friend who had it laying around his farm. I can't resist free equipment so I took it home. It looks complete but it's frozen-the starter rope won't budge. I was thinking of tearing it down and taking a look inside, but can you even fix a saw that's frozen like that? I posted over on Arborist, but I just signed up so my post won't show up for a while. Collecting saws is getting to be a real hobby at this point  Here are some pics:

Nothing wrong with pulling her down to see what is what. Parts are readily available for it and not that expensive. gotta get your feet wet sometime, and the price was right. Have at it.

I have a similar Echo CS-510EVL that has served me well for many years. It still starts, runs and cuts everytime I ask it to, which is pretty good for a 25+/- year old saw. Remember that at the time this saw was made John Deere was selling Echo saws under its own name in yellow paint. Several times I've been able to get parts from the Deere dealership by knowing the equivalent model number. I'm not 100% sure, but this saw: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-DEERE-...aultDomain_0&hash=item3a69ed7fab#ht_500wt_969 would seem to be the Deere version of your Echo.
Happy cutting!
