Have a couple of rounds of sycamore that i picked up. My buddy said you can't burn it, makes you sick, hence the name. Is this true?
Is it ok to burn Sycamore?

Breathing smoke from any kind of burning wood can make you sick.
Chuck it in the stove and be happy. Don't expect much, its soft wood.

There is a type of wood that grows in California that can make you sick or worse, so I would be careful. I was told about this tree when visiting the LA area. I wish I could remember the name of it. All I know is that it bears white flowers. Does anyone know about this tree?

I grew up around Sycamores. Burnt much and I'm still here.
I did not see many of them when I was in LA.
I'm not in Kansas. And Sycamores are not in LA either.

I didn't inten to say that sycamore was poisonous. What i meant was that anyone concerned with a species of wood being poisonous should do their research from a reputable source and not just rely on a post. Some things are not safe to burn.

Out of curiosity and killing time I did some searching...only thing I really found (besides not burning poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, ect) was the wood of the laburnum tree also being poisonous. Don't know how common that tree is, but apparently no good for firewood.
