You shouldn't have any rodent trouble with that set-up!

He's a monster! One of the biggest cats I've ever had. So far this year he's brought the following presents (usually in 'parts') to the back door as offerings:

mice (galore)
chipmunks (not as many as the mice, but still a lot)
squirrels (5 different times)
bluebirds
magpie (2)
and one cottontail rabbit.

I think he's part mt. lion. I took this picture of him last year... for some reason it reminds me of a Far Side cartoon. I can just hear him thinking... "man, if I could take one of these down, I'd be set all winter!"

Usually when he's 'playful' with me it ends up involving blood... mine, not his. But he's super docile w/ my daughter who carts him around everywhere. Go figure.

Younger son found a little black kitten up on the highway and brought it home. Had the blue eye and I thought it was blind. Turned into a big long black cat like yours. A year or two ago, a neighbor from down the road stopped and told me to watch the pets. He is up with back pain at all hours and goes driving in the middle of the night. Spotted this panther up in my woods. I tried to tell him it must have been my cat. Oh no, sez he, way to big for a cat, this was a panther. So now the neighbors think panthers come up the valley and live in my woods. The gullible ones anyway.

I love the pic of that cat stalking the deer . . . I have a small black cat myself that thinks she is a panther . . . I catch her stalking the wild turkeys even though they are clearly much larger than her.
