Ok, I have a co-worker that just bought a home with a 1992 Aladdin Quadrafire 1000 in the basement. He does not want it, so is willing to sell it to me for $200. Now when we plug it in the blower clicks on, if you use a wire to the terminals for the thermostat you can see the auger feed? Guys what else should I check on this unit before purchasing. My father in-law and brother in law heat there whole homes with pellet stoves so familiar with install and use. Thanks in advance for the help, it does have some white paint splashed on it and stored in a basment so will need some repainting.

Most likely a plugged vacuum hose going to the switch. Pull it off at the switxh and blow air towards the fitting on the auger tube. My 800 clogged pretty much all the time with dusty pellets!

Thanks for the reply, I am a idiot I did not close the door when trying to get the auger to run.

Thanks again for the info , and leting me know that the ceramic fire pots are expensive and can crack. Where do these cracks usually form in the firepot?

That would be a good exhibit in a museum.

Actually the ceramic pots are no longer available, Nor is the sealing gasket on the flange. You would need a kit that replaces it with the newer cast iron burnpots. Kits are like $500 bucks or so. Back in the day Quad would replace them under warranty.

Ceramic pots crack by the lower cleanout, where the ignitor connects and around the air holes. I have seen the whole bottom fall right out of them. If it was idled on low they seemed to last. If they were burned at full tilt, not so much!

Do not get me wrong. QuadraFire is an awesome stove and that is a good price. That unit has been discontinued for some time and newer units will give you more efficiency. Good luck

I hear ya, it is a oldie, but with two little ones and one income, this is my first pellet burner. Going refirb it, maintain it and run it till it pukes for that price!

I think you're going to be putting a lot more money into that antique than you will care to spend over time. Personally I would look at another used unit that isnt as old. Parts are going to be hard to come by, and if your burn pot cracks you can kiss $500 bucks goodbye right off the bat. Theres a guy on Ebay that sells reconditioned stoves cheap and a few of the people here in this forum own them, they work and work very well.

Good luck,

Just fyi, this is a listing of parts that are and aren't available for replacement. N/A means they are no longer available. Looks like the commom parts are for the most part.

balls of fire, thanks for the info, and if it does run into issues that start running into $$$, I will likely just junk it for another. This is my first pellet stove so trying it out before i sink major money into a heating system I don't even know I will like as compared to a wood stove.

Man I am a rookie at this, when I took a second look at it today it is not a Nova 800 it is a Alladin Quadrafire 1000!!! I updated the first post for us. I checked the burn pot on it, the pot is in GREAT shape no cracks, ran it for awhile the pot did warm up if you place your hand over it. With the thermostat hooked up it would auger pellets into the pot when the stat demanded it, but the red light did not come on at all even when the reset button is pressed?. But the thermocouple is all messed up. Don't know if it changes anything that it is a Quad 1000? I found one in WA state referbed for $1,299!!

Thermocouple would be an easy fix, you need to test it to be sure that it is faulty. it does sound like the culprit though if your green and red never come on

That is another strange thing I can't find the GREEN light reffered too in the manual, only the red one next too the reset button??

Beside the red light you are talking about there are light on the control box, red and green.if these don't come on within a couple resets and a good hot fire it is most likely tc.
