Currently burning a Lopi Freedom downstairs, and I am looking to install a pellet stove upstairs in a bonus room over the garage. I am thinking that it would be less mess throughout the house if I am carrying bags of pellets upstairs instead of firewood. Anyhow, I want a stove that will heat 1200 sq ft, in some kind of finish other than black. Enamel or Soapstone are the other available options I guess. Local stove store has Quadrafire and St Croix. I am looking for some real world input on stoves you folks are using. The other reason I am looking at pellet stoves is that I am not sure I can get a tall enough flue to get a wood stove to draft properly if installed on the second floor.

Thanks for the input,

Mike

Both of those stoves, the quad and the st croix, are popular here. Should have issues with either. Find the one that 'looks pretty' for you, and it should work fine for you.

im familier with quad, castille in mahogany is a really sharp stove easy to clean and operate as well

You can't go wrong with the St Croix. If cast iron is your thing the Hastings is available in a wide range of colors. The Prescott is a hammer and one of the few steel stoves available as a leg option
