My narrowed down options are:

Lowes: Somersets $197 a ton with $67 delivery fee.

Tractor Supply: Hardwood Heat $197 a ton with $50 delivery fee.

Going to buy 3 tons. I burn Hardwood heat in my Harman Last year and I liked them. However this will be in my 10-Cpm.

Mike from Englander has used Hardwood Heat and he liked them also, however I have seen Somersets mentioned here....

Opinions welcomed.

I say stay with what you know and run with it. Hardwood heat for this year! But please try(best to try before you buy) some Somersets. They will probably surprise you!

I agree w/ Jay....stay with the HH for now, and also buy as many bags of the Somersets that you can cram into your vehicle. They are a GOOD pellet.

The 10-cpm will eat anything. ;-)

Ok but what would you buy if you were buying it? I'm guessing Somersets am I right? And have you ever tried Hardwood heat?

I have burned the Somersets, and liked them. I have not burned the HH, but they are made by Hamer's, and have burned them.....liked them too.

It's a toss-up for me.

I'd really like to get my hands on some Somerset pellets. There just aren't any around me right now.

So far my only stock is a ton of Stove Chow. If Somerset's come around I'll buy a couple of tons and be all set for the winter. Otherwise, I'll be spending a lot more for some Vermont pellets.

I have burned both. HH had a bit more heat, But the Somersets were close and were a bit cleaner burning. HH did also burn faster(bag didn't last as long)! But if you haven't tried the Somerset and possible batch variation its best to stick with what you know!

I'd probably choose Somerset because of the slightly longer burn, heat that was pretty close and cleaner overall.

Steve at Long Pond said he'd have some in December. Might be worth the ride for some xmas presents for the stove! :)

Wow what a treasure this site is thank you for all the help.

Thats a toughy. Both good to real good pellet. I got Somersets this year but would not hesitate to get a few more H H if possible. Acually you are in a great position, good pellets at a good price. You can't go wrong !! Lowes usually charges by the bag and TSC is a little cheaper by the ton. Guess I would get a ton of HH and bags of Somersets whenever I was close to Lowes.
