I searched a bit on the forum but couldn't find any info on them.

Wood Fibers Inc. based out of Niagara Wisconsin.
I am not sure what this seasons price is but last year he was selling for $170 a ton OTD.

Thx

I see them around.

but I've never tried them.

looks like you guys need to test em out for us.

Just hit my 1000th post! maybe i'll catch up to imacman :cheese:

Don't understand why ur asking about them if they're not available locally?

Because if they had good reviews me and 3 other guys were gonna go in together and order a semi load to split up and maybe sell off the extra.

I bought 4 tons hardwood @ $169 on Saturday, but i can't give you the feedback you want, because my boiler will eat whatever I feed it. Did notice the bags were sealed better than 2 years ago and there few fines. Soft wood were 179.

Just bought a ton of softwoods for $179 (with the $20 USPS moving discount at Home Depot). Wood Fibers, Inc. has a website for their pellets...

I burned a bag today. Pellets burn VERY clean and produce good heat, not quite as much heat as Stove Chow but VERY close, I like them. I will buy another ton when HD refreshes their stock, they have 40 more tons on the way in according to the store mgr at my local HD.

I bought a few bags last winter from a truckstop in Antigo... seemed burn about the same as most good hardwood pellets... I'd buy them again.

Newb here. Signed on just to reply to you.
I ordered Stove Chow from HD but the delivery was 2 tons of Wood Fibers.

A few people on here seem to like them - I am so PO'd my eyes are popping.

After only 5 bags of WF my stove (Harman) is a mess. The pellets are producing tons of ash
and dust, the ash bin is almost 1/3 full. This is a lot worse than any pellet we've ever burned.

The stove was just cleaned and VC'd, am I being too picky?

If the other people really like them, what would cause the differnce in performance?

I'm in contatc with HD now to see how to resolve the issue, the store says they have no control over
what gets delivered. I won't order from HD anymore.

I have found that their pellet quality varies quite a lot. Sometimes they are good sometimes extremely bad. I've opened bags that looked and smelled just like they bagged the compost pile. I've been to their mill, and they need better control over the raw materials.

I would actually be curious to see how the Stove Chow is burning for people. I think the risk in buying brands that the big box stores sell is the variation in the quality of the batches. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not so much. The bad part is, you thought you were purchasing Stove Chow, and got Wood Fibers instead, which are not working out very well. If they made it clear to you they couldn't guarantee what brand you were getting, I would think it would be hard to argue. If they didn't make that clear, I would be screaming. This is not the first thread in which people thought they were buying one brand from the HD or Lowe's and another brand was delivered. The price is attractive, but if the pellet sucks, it's not worth it. Hope you can get some satisfaction from them.

Welcome Stanley,

You have just learned that any bigbox(HD, Lowes and even TSC) only have one skew number for pellets. To them pellets are pellets and they are all basically the same.

The tried and true quarenteed way to get what brand you want is with a pellet house. They know that all pellets are not the same!

Thanks for your support on my reply, you folks seem quite nice!

The HD stocked Stove Chow, and when I ordered them I just said 'the pellets',
not thinking they'd deliver whatever the trucking company got a deal on; and
no one there advised me about it.

3rd company carrier delivered, I have to assume (because I'm a lousy cynic)
that this truck co. has a contract to deliver and they can bring whatever they get
the most profit from.

Trying to get some satisfaction from HD, not going too well. Lesson learned, though.
We moved here in January, new to pellet stoves, but thanks to this site we learned
quite a bit. Tried several brands of pellets, and felt OK about ordering 2 tons of Stove Chow.

We're off to buy a new vac this afternoon, though, looks like we'll be deep cleaning every week or so,
possibly every few days. If I can figure out how to post an acceptable-sized pic I'll show you what 1/2 bag burned looks like.

What! Are you a chicken?

Nah, no need to go all crazy. ;-)

not really impressed. I don't care for wood fibers mixed in with the pellets-not very good quality control. Also seemed ashy. I will not be buying again.

Not impressed.

Burned all three bags over the weekend.

Had a considerably lower flame height in the quad and snuffed out the fire in the englander on the third night.(pot overflowed w/unbrned pellets)
