I've got two sawmills within 15 miles of me that sells their slab wood pretty cheap. I've wondered how many folks have burned slabs in their outdoor stove and what kind of burn times you have got from it?

Do you have a link to the -Lynx 20- ? Ability to control the burn rate is my only concern. That and quantity of slab wood you could toss in it, and not risk an overfire situation.

It has been renamed, but it is the same as a Heatmaster MF3000.

It really depends on the wood quality, how much you heat you are pulling and how much you stove will hold. I used slabs for most of a season and was able to get 8-10 hours out of a load. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Most of the slabs I was using were reasonably thick though. There are a lot of variables, but they do work.

When I first moved in (middle of winter) I had no wood to burn so I picked up a 6x10x4.5ft dump trailer load of slab wood. My brother and I stacked it tight and it lasted me about 1 month. I would get 8-10hr burn times also but the biggest problem for me was it took so much longer to pack the stove full.
