Well, It's been a long time coming, but the Fireview is up and running. Not completely finished yet, but operational. Here is the timeline narrative . . . want stove, find hearth.com, catch up on years worth of stove theory, stove debate, realize that no brand of stove owner loves their stove more than the fiercely loyal Woodstock customers, order Woodstock Fireview, check out chimney, bad chimney chase, bad chimney liner, old roof, big roof slapping trees not going to damage new roof, firewood, rebuild top of brick chimney, replace roof, split and move firewood from yard, buck and split about 1/3 of massive white oak tree that fell in summer of 2008, stack about 3 cords of firewood total, winter sets in, wallet heals up . . . Figure out 16" tall corner hearth design with drawers, Demo and replace ancient lath and plaster walls with wonderboard, Frame hearth, install 3/4" plywood on hearth floor, 20 Gauge Sheet Steel, Wonderboard, Ceramic "wood looking" tile on floor, tile on walls, recruit 3 more gorillas to place Fireview on the Hearth on carpet pads, schedule Chimney Sweep to line chimney and install stove, submitt thourough insurance report with several pics, insurance agent happy, 1st break-in fire 9/28/11, 2nd break-in fire on 9/29/11, spend most of night rounding up pics to slap together collage of timeline, post new topic. Ready for real burn tomorrow night, weather in mid 40's. I'm a happy camper.

Great looking stove! Nice collage / install!

pen

Now sit back and enjoy, come january you will know it was all worth it.

Sweet!! Feels great to be ready. Thats nice set-up you have there.....

You should be proud.

Just by looking at your pictures it looks as if you had an incredible journey to get where you are now. Time to enjoy...

Quite a journey indeed Dave. Congratulations.

How about posting a picture of the end result of the install? It looks great in the small picture but would like something a bit bigger.

Great story and pic. Now it's time to get a couple of years ahead on the firewood so that everything
will be nice and seasoned in years going forward.

I thought the same thing- the last pic in the collage is the one that says it was all worth the effort, planning and occasional bit of frustration. Nicely done!

Backwoods,

The finished hearth height is right at 16", I decided to build it like I was already tired of bending and loading it. There seems to be plenty of room to place a tub of wood in front of the stove and sit beside/in front of the door and comfortably load the stove. The final framing design has one drawer on each 36" side face, the drawers are 16" wide x 12" length x about 9" deep. The tool drawer is in the 34" front face, it is 24" wide x 40+ " length that will travel 26" when open, it is also about 9" deep. All drawer guides are rated at 100 lbs. I say the drawers are, I should say will be, the framing in place will allow me to install them as planned.

Dave, got a pic or two of the drawers? That's a really cool idea.

Holy crap, is it ever. I'm not a fan of raised hearths, but the drawers are a great idea.

Very cool Evil Dave . . . first hearth I've seen with drawers incorporated into it . . . could be very useful . . . and so far it looks wicked sharp.
