Its fine to be passionate about this stuff, we all spend alot of time in choosing installing, sweeping, loading, spliting, cutting stacking, cleaning, etc just to heat. The beautie is we still enjoy this enough to discuss it. Discuss, no need for arguments gentelman and ladies.

As some one whos bought cheap reaplaced etc. Id still say go with what fits first and something your going to feel comfortable having a fire in, in your house. The goal in warmth.

We looked at all those brands, i liked the enviro, good things said about them, never got to see one in person which hurt the chances of getting one. Osburns and naps are stout units nice thick steel. Im not a bay window fan myself but that glass really radiates some heat. Keep in mind enviros are only cast surround and jackets, still a steel box.

I bought online then bought used. If i were the OP i would not worry much about online buys. Be wary of the extra charges, our first one was free delivery but had to pay 40 something to use their liftgate...to get it off the truck..just something to keep in mind.

And yes go with the installer you feel safe with. Some extra money here for getting it done right is wise. The insulation wrap is..not a deal breaker, i ran one for a year without in a clay lined exterior short chimney. No real issues. But keeping the liner warmer helps draft and so i did..after the fact. Id say just do it first go and not worry.

Good luck let us know how it turns out. Pictures....

Browning, that human is smart enough to stay busy loading three stoves keeping you warm!

Yeah, but if he keeps hitting his head on the mantels after loading said stoves I'm going to have to start spoon feeding him his meals. That over-sized head of his can only take so much damage before something goes terribly wrong.

Looks like Woodland Direct is offering the best price for a complete 2200 with liftgate delivery..$2,389. My local shop is quoting the exact same price, provided my installer picks the unit up from them.

I would also pay an additional $150 to the State of Ohio for the privilege of buying the 2200 locally.

So far, the 3 times I've visited the local shop (2 different stores in the area) I've not been wowed by their help.......

My next "local" Osburn dealer is over an hour away.

What to do, what to do.......

Support the local guy. You will have someone to talk to face to face if there's a warranty issue.

Well, I did just that. Today I pulled the trigger on an Osburn 2200.

Flashed a wad of cash and got 3% off and a free door overlay. With tax out the door $ 2359.

This ended up being $30 less than any internet vendor's price.

So I'm pretty happy. The unit will stay at the store (rather than my driveway) until the installer is ready to go.

Once the unit arrives, I'll set an install date with the installer and away we go!

Of course, pictures will be taken and shared with the group..

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions.......

Greg

Congrats on your purchase, best of luck!

Just curious, What did the wife like about the 2200? For me, it's the beveled surround. You add a beveled surround to any insert and it really looks different, so much nicer.

The store just called--my 2200 is in! Monday I'll give the installer a call and hopefully set an install date......getting closer!

Good to hear. Seems like you will have it in right before the weather turns cold.

Install date set for October 19th!
Good deal! Best of luck
I remember when I got my stove it was installed in June and i had to look at it for a few months, you can start burning right away, perfect timing.

Today the store delivered the unit and it's assorted parts......I wish I didn't have to work today so I could check them out.

Here's a quick shot:

Now counting down the days until installation!

In case anyone wonders why there is 2 labels on the glass... We had so many people calling us to explain why the BTU and Efficiency on the EPA label did not match the published rating on the units, we got sick of it! So we made another (yellow) label to explain what the white label is all about :) . Apparently, EPA will fix their label requirement for the next Phase.

To the gentleman who calls Napoleon 'ugly' and question their performance. I am a competitor of Napoleon. They make fine appliances and they wouldn't be in business otherwise. It is fine having an opinion, it is better to express it in a tactful & respectful manner. Only then will an opinion have value.

I have a steel stove that's very plain, no fancy trim, no brass / aluminum door and I'm very happy with it. In the end it's the service it provides that's truly satisfying.

Glad to see you're approaching install!

They're here!

The chimney is clean and the damper is now begging for mercy..........

Congrats! I'm guessing in another three hours you should have an installed insert sitting in your fireplace.

Well, it's in and 95% done!

Only problem was the stove store sent the wrong size trim kit for the outside of the surround. My installer offered to exchange the trim kit at the store and return tomorrow to finish the job.

I just snapped this quick shot with my phone with no daylight, so the pic isn't so hot.....but I will post some nicer shots later.

Looking forward to breaking her in.

Okay...trim kit issue resolved.

Just called my homeowner's insurance and was told that they didn't need anything regarding the install. (Yay for Safeco Insurance.)

My owner's manual calls for 3 break-in fires. Two 20 minute fires @ approx. 250 degrees, then 1 40 minute fire @ approx. 450 degrees or less.

Now, if it runs as good as it looks, I'm going to be a very happy camper!

With the okay from my insurance company, we decided to do our first break-in fire tonight.

Success all around--our draft is great, the wood burns great, the wife likes how it looks, and she's very pleased with the noise level of the fan.

Looking forward to getting to know this beauty better and see what she can do once she's turned loose.

Thanks for all your help over the past few months!
