House was a little cool this morning but not bad. But now I've been up for a while it is feeling cool and damp. So, just got the fire going again. Looks like we may keep it going for a few days now. Probably going to get colder out east this weekend than here and I see some snow for the mountains out there too.

Yo yo yo you're we-weweaaakkkkk. Itttsss n-nn-not- thaaattt c-c-o-l-d yyyettttt.

Hang on btuser. It will reach you very soon. lol

I had to kick on the heat pump because we are headed out the door for our homeschool co-op. I'll likely fire it up tomorrow since they are talking frost for us.

I've got mine too. Enjoying the flames, the warmth, and some coffee. Enjoy your Friday Dennis...

It's really getting close to that time now. They're saying 40's at night for us now, and our house doesn't get much solar gain till the leaves are off the trees, so I'm going to be having a fire now for more than just playing with the stove.

Yeah, those 50° temp swings must make life interesting. I guess you really have to think about what to wear if you work outside.

I plan/expect to light up the BK for the first time tonight. I probably could've needed it this morning but I was on my way out and didn't see the need.

Frost sounds great, kill those darn mosquitos. Nothing coming so far, if you can trust the weathermen! Be safe, check those Co and fire/smoke alarms when you start burning.

I have been lighting up at least once per day for the last week and a half. I even had to reload the stove after the first light up last night.

And our temperature dropped 10 degrees from what it was when I got up. A bit nippy out there with some good wind and more rain but I think the rain is about done.

Its not real cold here yet in western pa, but i plan on building a fire tomorow, just to make sure everything is looking good, and i miss the darn thing!

Not sure when the fire fire will be started in the Manny. Looking at ~ 5 days of rainy weather, highs in low 60's/upper 50's and lows in the low 40's. Might get there. I think I'll have have couple small fires in the next couple days just to get any moisture out of the stones and be prepared for a real fire when the time comes (likely pretty soon!). Cheers!

I had the first fire on the 14th and a couple after that during the last spell with temps below freezing. Our forecast is for 47 today, but it has yet to get above 41 and it's raining, and Bev mentioned it was a bit chilly ('bout damn time!). I just started a fire to take out the chill, and may have to maintain it this evening. Might just need another in the am. :cheese:

Had a fire about the same time as PapaDave... two weeks ago now.

Today it's approaching freezing, and apparently a windchill just below freezing... it's cold in the office... can't wait to fire up the stove when I get home tonight.

I lit the BK up this evening......the Wind is blowing pretty good here!

Supposed to be in the upper 30s tonight :shut:

Have the T-Stat set at the lowest setting and its a comfortable 77° in the main part of the house.

Should get a good 40hrs from this load!

Cleaned the pipes/stove yesterday and burned a one loader just to make sure there are no surprises before it really gets cold. Then woke up to 45* with rain. Burrrrr. A little chilly. The wife went to run her first marathon 5K and it's crappy cold and raining! Thought she'd like a warm stove to warm her cold bones. So this is the earliest I've kinda needed a fire. Oh well not complaining I have wood so might as well use it!!

I just cleaned as well - looking at a few rainy, cool days. Might have at least a small fire to get the soapstone ready for bigger burns. Still hoping to hold off.......but......we'll see! Enjoy the fire! Cheers!

Don't worry Charlie. After running that far she will be warm.

My philosophy exactly . . . it never bothers me when I fire up the stove . . . I mean I have the woodstove and I have the wood to be nice and warm . . . and so when I'm cold I fire it up. Due to the rain and chill yesterday I fired up the stove and took the house from 62 or so degrees up to 70 degrees where it stayed all day and most of the evening . . . fired it up again this morning as it was back down to 64 degrees.

Cold and wet here . . . had a couple fires going in the past few days. On Friday I leave for Vermont/New Hampshire -- where it is forecast to be dry, but much cooler. Too bad I'll be camping the first night. ;)

Maybe the mosquitos will be to cold to bite. Last week the had raingear on but still got their meals. Have a great time.
