Does any body know if Lowes and or HD offers a discount to volunteer fireman And ems providers? I would like to buy another ton
For the winter that would put me up to six and a half tons. I figured if I can save a few bucks why not.

I don't believe they do, but anyone can go to the Post Office and request a movers pack. It includes a 10% off Lowes coupon. Home Depot accepts all coupons from Lowes as well.

I doubt that HD does, they even did away with their veterans discount.

I just used my veteran's discount today at HD. I asked for the 'military discount' and showed them my old (very old) military ID card and not the DD214 or VA card.

Maybe a regional thing. I know the one in Cambridge, OH, discontinued it and someone here on the board mentioned it lately, maybe in PA?

The only thing HD will do (as far as pellets goes) is that they will beat a LOWER competitors price. If the competitor is selling them for the same price, HD will not beat it.

I was also told that HD will NOT honor any coupons when you're buying pellets.

I no longer do business with HD.

Hd in Augusta Me. gives a military discount. I have a retired military ID and my wife has a military dependent ID, both current cards and both are honored at this HD. with a 10% discount.

Yea, they 'officially' stopped giving all veterans a discount, which really sucks since you can go to the contractor's desk and tell them you are buying quite a bit today and they will give you 10% off! They still give it to active duty personnel. Both the HD and Lowes around here still give it as a courtesy and still say 'thank you for your service'. The darn HD back in Reading, Pa ALWAYS refused to give the discount, even when confronted with the corporate memo at that time.. Just a nasty store.

I just bought 2 tons a couple weeks ago at HD and used a Lowes 10% coupon no questions asked.

I believe that if you walk in to any HD or Lowes and tell the store manager face to face that you want to spend $600 for 3 tons of pellets or anything else, he's going to give you 10% discount because he knows that, if you go to the contractor desk, you will get it for lumber, tile, flooring, etc anyway. Chances are the competitor is close by and he will lose the sale. The 10% is pretty much a 'throw away' for those in the 'know' and additional profit for the uninformed who walk through the door.

If you don't fight for it, you'll never get it.
