mid mich
so I cleaned the stove this weekend. Went to dust off that fiber board and
Poof !
Broke into multiple pieces when I dusted it with a wisk broom.
My stove shop says it may be covered under warranty as it had a burn thru
hole and less than 5 years old. I guess I didn't realize it was that fragile ?
He's hoping it will be covered as it is a little pricey ?
Anyone have any info on these ?
thanks
rn

am i the only one..............?
got 2 messages from the stove shop
first says that the board will be covered under warranty
second says something about a picture ?
called them back twice - no answer / vme - no reply
stopped by the shop & my guy is n/a with the other not knowing anything about this
now i know they are busy this time of year but he said he'd have it for me tuesday
warranty or not i'm needing this board
getting cooler but not cold...........guess i'm looking forward to that first fire of the season
Anyone have any experience with Quad board warranty ?

Slow down Rusty. ;-P

Yes, I believe that your subject has been touched upon before. I don't know about the warranty, but you might want to do a site search on the subject. If memory serves me correct, Quad has been a bit of a pain in some instances when it comes to warranty work. They rely on the dealer network very strongly.

Quad should make gd on the board. I'm a dealer and have alot of experience with this issue. They relied on a vender who started to cut corners, old board was white, the new board will be grey. Better material.

I just took my stove a part tonight and my fiberboard is broke in half right down the middle. I have a Quad 4300 millennium, seems like it is only four years old. Guess I will be calling my dealer tomorrow.

My Quad 5700 is now a year old. I slide out the insulation blanket along with both boards, to clean the stove. I just lost one little corner of my board upon removal. Not enough to warrant replacement , I felt. I was told by a stove shop that use to handle Quad woodstoves, that I could use firebrick with a thinner blanket and not use the fragile boards. How true this is, I have no idea. Then I read on here that the boards are the way to go over firebrick. Any solid opinions as I'll bet after this year the boards will be getting brittle and hard to remove for cleaning again without them falling apart, I'm figuring.

so the stove company wanted a picture of the broken board.
Hadn't thrown it out yet so they have it now.........we'll see
what happens next ?

Don't you love a company that doubt's what your saying really happened? Don't feel bad, they sent me two right hand leg brackets when I really needed just the left one. So I just sent them both back and made the left barcket work, I just had to grind a slot longer to hold the ash dump handle up into the lock position, things they never checked at the factory. Plus they eventually admitted I had ill built stove legs, milled on an angle where the bolt and washer would tighten onto, possibly spitting the leg out in the middle of the night, they said I could grind them flat. Then it's all on me. No thanks, send me the legs made correctly. No more stoves from that company for me. Good luck with your board. Keep us posted.

Basically, any large company (and many small ones!)...as well as a public company like Quad, need to have a "audit trail" of such things. That is not a bad thing, although it may seem so to a customer.

It's not that they don't believe you, it's just that in a billion dollar company there are various levels of responsibility. The folks who head the warranty dept. have to keep records for when their bosses look at why claims are too high or too low, etc....

I saw what happened even in my small outfit (store, importer) when checks and balances were not used for warranty claims. I found instances were I was being taken for a ride (in this case, by employees, not by customers)......

Anyway, it's hard to fault a company for wanting to see a problem. My thinking is that if you told them you threw it away, they still would have given you the part....

I would hope they would still give you the part. After sending me a new part, I'd have no problem even sending the old part back, letting them see first hand what problem they do or do not have.

so here we are.............
I talked to my stove shop last week and he said that Quad approved the new board.
Good news
Said it should be in in about a week.........
Had a few cool nites in the last week and i'm betting that a few of you guys have fired up your stoves ?
Have to give them a call and let them know i'm anxious............
Good thing the wife was out for those cold days and now it's warmed up again.
You'd think a shop that deals in this type of stoves would stock this material ?
Didn't know that changes materials.....thanks for that info
We'll see how long this takes ?
rn

Warm again !
sept 17 thru oct 27 !
I just can't believe it took this long ?
He had more excuses than..............
Would gladly have purchased one and put the warranty
replacement away as a spare had I have known it would take this long.
Might just do that
Thanks for listening to my ranting
82 degrees in the house last nite
nice to be warm again
