Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing this stove at Lowes and was wondering if the Outside Air Kit is necessary to install on this stove. I currently have a woodstove and it's on an inside wall of my home. I'm looking to install this pellet stove where the woodstove is currently, but will have an issue with the OAK. I have heard it is not necessary on other stoves unless your in a mobile home or your house is really tight. My home is almost 60 years old, so I know it's not tight. Thanks!

if it is an englande, which i think it is, then yes you have to use a oak

Do you know if it would work running the air pipe inside the wall and up to the attic for air? I realize I would need more flexpipe than what comes with the stove.

I wouldn't OAK means OUTSIDE AIR KIT, if something went wrong with that stove you could have smoke or fire damage in your walls or attic.

If you read the install instructions.. Its says to use outside air. Not from an attic or crawl space.. Englander stoves MUST have an OAK... MUST....

What would be my other option then, as I stated my stove is on an inside wall. I'm adapting the 3" pipe to the existing 8" flue from my wood stove. The only way I can see to get outside air would be to run flexpipe or possibly pvc, inside up the wall through the attic to an outside wall and through. Do you think this would work?

Do not use PVC. This is not an acceptable material! If it will burn. It cant be used. If you lose power the PVC can melt.

Going through your 8" would be ok. If you could use the proper materials and seal it correctly.

Selkirk Direct Temp is an option.

Where do you plan on venting the exhaust? Follow that to the outside air.
