Weatherford Texas (DFW)
Just wondering where in Texas you buy pellets, price, quality, brands, and which ones you like the best? I live here in North Texas and it's slim pickens for me or at least it seems that way.

I guess I should say DFW area. All I keep hearing is north Texas lately due to the super bowl. Thanks I will look into them. I am willing to drive if needed.

You should have plently of Tractor Supply stores near you. They should have some sort of pellets. As you read on here every TSC's have different brands. Mine has Tomorrow Energy (Piney Wood) so who knows what might you find in Northern Texas

Are those tomorrow energy any good? We have those here to at out TS, I just heard to stay away from them. So I really never gave them a chance. I was really just seeing what everyone else does for pellets. We have pellets around here, but so far they are really not the best. Last year a local wal mart had some, but never did get any this year.

I've been curious about trying them also. Well, I'm also in the same pickle as you are. There arent many choices in these parts. All i've really used is OHP's and Heat Resource. There are SIH where i'm at but just a little to high for me. So good luck in you search there are plenty of local choices but great brands well that all to someones opinion.

Tried some of the Tomorrow's Energy at the beginning of the season....wasn't impressed. Ash wasn't bad, but the heat output was lacking. Same selection here--an hour north or south gets me OHP's, TE pellets in town at Tractor Supply. OHP's are burning fairly well, but seem really ashy compared to the Rockies I got hold of last year.

Hey thanks for the info about the Tommorow Energy. I'm needing a ton in few days was thinking about trying something different Probably stick with OHP's. That about the cheapest pellet that has done me well for many seasons. I will agree they are quite ashy. Also what's the price at TSC in Texas for pellets? It seems price differ all over

I did drive 2 hours last year to get Rockies, but man they had a lot of fly ash but at least the burn pot stayed cleaned for a week. Also the heat output seemed a little weak. I might need to adjust some more on the stove. Right now I am burning Bayou that I found and I will never do that again! These things cake the burn pot daily. SO next year will be a adventure. I think here at our tractor supply I wanna say a ton of Tommorrow Energy's were running around $250. I might just go with Rockies again if Wichita Falls carries them next season.

I believe they're $5.49/bag here at TSC, no ton discount either.....OHP's are the same price at Sutherlands in Lubbock, again with no per ton discount. Not sure why they're not offering a better price on a full pallet-both places did last year.

Wow!! Dont know how you can afford them at that price. TSC is 4.29 per bag or $215 Per ton. I can get OHP's at a local lumber yard at $3.94 or 194.99 Per ton.

Well, its all up to the beholder. To me they have done me well for 4 seasons of burning. The prices i've paid have been reasonable for the product. Ive noticed that this year they are pretty ashy but the heat is pretty good. But i'm just 2 1/2 hrs from the mill so next year i think i'm going up there and get mine.

Thats cool what town are they located in? I tried looking them up online, but did not find anything.

NVm I found them the Ozark hardwood pellet

Last season I burned Big Heat from Northern Tool at $225/ton. That was all I could find. Thinking about what TSC has, but they don't know the brand yet. They want $250/ton That was in Burleson, TX just south of Fort Worth.

Sutherland's in Wichita Falls says that they have "Spearfish" pellets whatever the heck they are. But $300 a ton. And that is a bit of a run up 287.

Ya I have no idea what is up spearfish. I have been trying to find some information on them. They must be new or don't care to have a website

I drove up there last season to get Rocky Mountains. I thought I didn't like them, but after burning other brands I now love them! They quit carrying them of course.

OHP's at my local TSC this year--nice to stock up from downtown instead of driving an hour each way......

Be careful with the OHP's. Had a terrible experience last year that changed my thought on them forever!! Was wondering are they packaged in a white bag?

I see you have 2 tons of SIH. HAd a chance to burn any yet? WHat do you think of them so far? I got a message from a guy telling me about greenways in Durant for $3 something a bag! Man I wish I could get that deal a little closer. I have to go by there soon so I might pick me up a few bags. I think I am onto some Rocky Mountains here close to home :)

Haven't really had the chance to burn much because it's still to warm but the little I have of the SIH they put out good heat and just a bit if ash. But I've just probably burned bout 4 hrs so far, just trying out the new Harman I picked up. Greenways are awesome for me, you'll be sastified with them. Where you getting Rockies at? Sutherlands??

Mine burned ok last year--best I found in a 70 mile radius. They were a tan bag with graphics last year, white bag with text only this year. Hopefully they'll still do well. I did find Rockies at a Sutherlands the first year I burned, haven't seen them around since. Too bad, as they put all the others I've tried to shame, at least in my stove.
