So, it appears they went up for the start of the season. I didn't expect this increase so fast.

Message I have been getting is even the bigbox stacks are starting to dwindle. This is just the start IMHO.

Local TSC is $204 up from 197 last week. Will check lowes too!

Bought a ton there last weekend as well.
Worked on flue install and fired new stove this weekend.
Was going back next weekend for more?
looking at others in the area $225 still a good price?

local HD's are still $197. I am going to see if they will price match. If not, I hope HD will deliver the 20 miles for a decent rate.
I think I may jump in for an additional 6 tons to go with my current 6 in order to stock up for next year.

I think you are right. Looks like the local places are running out of stoc at least temporarily. I am sure the Big Box stores will have the same problem. Probably see a spike up until late January or February there. And the local houses probably until Spring sales.

Happy I am sitting on my 5 ton thats for sure!!

i wanted to buy more locally. but sib will deliver the 100+ miles to millinocket for the same delivered price as anywhere else.
$219 per ton. best delivered price locally (for mwp) is $240.
i am getting one ton locally just to have some for when our stove is installed on the 27th. the sib delivery won't get here till nov. 6th.

lol! hope the mwps are as reported. decent heat low ash. because i will have 5 tons by then.

Get the stove a burnin' and someone will give you your oinks.

Are you in your new place yet?

yep. been here one week today.
went to lincoln and bought a new washing machine. and spent some of today replacing leaky faucets and faucet washers, toilet flappers etc...

i have become all too acquainted with the low hanging drain pipes in the basement. *ow!*
now have things hanging from the pipes to remind me they are there.

the guy we are having do our roof and siding etc has had a family situation.
stilll hoping to get all that done before winter. (adding at least 12 more inches insulation in the attic.)

but there were 80 degree temps this week. indian summer for sure.

i do have a whole room set aside in the basement for pellets.
pics will be posted as soon as everything is loaded and installed.

thanks again to hearth.com and all who have helped me learn some basics to get started.

i don't. i didn't even think to ask. such a nOOb. :)
their site had a message thanking people for their patience in waiting for the okies to come in.

are the all softwoods higher heat and lower ash?
i seem to remember that from here somewhere.
i may see if they can send one of those if they have them by then.

Let us know what you think of them!

Went to Lowes 8pm last Saturday night and ordered 4 tons of Green Supreme for $197.

I had purchased a Tax Rebate Card last year in March. When you purchased the card you could put up to 4K on the card and after 30 days Lowes added 10% to the amount you choose. This card essentially got me 10% off that brought them to $177.30 then I had a 10% off coupon that brought them down to $159.57

The next day the price went to $225 ………………… made it just in time.

Plus the three tons from last year I still have ……………………………… 7 tons total squirreled away ….. oink oink

I’ll be getting another 10% card again this year too!!!
