Perhaps a zombi thread but a good one none the less.

Now I suppose I would have to update and say "that Fireview was the 'other' stove" :) Ok.. well, it isn't yet but it is getting close to be there.

Going with the Woodstock AwfulName?

I was looking at as Osburn but came upon a P E summit that was too good a deal to pass on.

I looked at Vermont Castings till I researched them here and decided they were not for me. I actually had a new Fireview spoken for at Woodstock but cancelled because I had serious questions at whether or not it would be large enough for my house. (still love Woodstock's awsome products. Almost wished I hadn't bought a stove yet so I could get the Progress.) I also looked at the Harman Oakwoods. I eventually narrowed it down to the PE Alderlea T5 and the Jotul Oslo 500. I know the PE would have been a great stove. I actually liked the PE T5 and the Oslo equally as far as quality and what people said about their heating ability. I ended up with the Oslo simply because I liked the looks of it better. Just hope the stove cement on the Oslo holds up well. The stove is still new and has never been lit----just waiting on cold weather!

Dennis posted something recently that got me thinking . . . he mentioned how he was looking at another stove before he ended up buying his Woodstock Fireview. Made me wonder what other stoves folks had in their final picks before they brought home "the one."

I'll start . . .

I was looking long and hard at a Hearthstone Heritage or Phoenix as well as one of the T-series stoves from Pacific Energy.

Ended up bringing home the Jotul Oslo.

Update: Now he is looking at a Woodstock Progress but has to learn proper wood splitting before he gets a new stove.

Still haven't pulled to cord.

I'm torn between the easy side loading of the Jotul 600 and the Lopi Liberty.

Lopi has a nicer view IMHO. But n/s loading is shallow at 15". Lopi has a few inch better clearance than the Jotul.

Almost bought an Englander 30 until I found out what the hearth requirement was. My wife wants a flush hearth instead of a 2" raised hearth pad.

Wish I could make up my mind. :)

Both are great stoves and I'm sure will serve me well.

OMG, here I am reading all these posts and thought for sure TK would have a stove to talk about by now...nothing yet. I can imagine where the Jotul is on the list now, probably dead last. :)

I did my research on my own, before I knew hearth.com existed. I liked the look of the Jotul right from the start, checked out the reviews and asked around. Went to the dealer in the off season and walked into a floor model Oslo that was a year old and got a great deal delivered. Here we are 3 years later

I am sure thinking that way :)

Looked at the PE Summit for a while, thought about a VC Defiant rebuild (old defiants, not the new models), and also thought about rebuilding my Vigilant- ended up with the F600, and that has made all the difference.

Well, I am talking about the second stove, my new Hampton H200 (the Buck was so long ago I don't remember except one, the Lopi). By the way, I got a lot of advise and help picking it hear and BrowningBAR picked the winner. I did a lot of research on a lot of stoves. I prefer steel but I was pretty sure that my wife, who wanted this one in the first place, would like the looks of cast. Looks is the only thing she cared about. Quality, operation, clearance to combustibles, etc. were all my department. The list at one time included: The Bakers Oven, Pen's choice, Jotul F3CB, Woodstock Keystone, Hudson River Catskill, Harman Oakleaf, Napoleon 1100 and 1150, and the Alderlea T-4.

When I was buying my last stove(Lopi Endeavor) I was looking at the PE summit, the Lopi Liberty, one of the Quad stove(don't remember the model) and the 30. Never heard of a BK until this site came into my life.

This time the only thing I was going to swap the Lopi out for was a BK stove. Right now I'm sitting in front of a hot stove without a flame in sight.

Good thing you went with the Oslo as the Heritage and Phoenix are smaller stoves.

EDIT: Damnit. I was fished in by a Zombie Thread.

HehHeh . . . I was reading this last week and wondering if anyone realized that they were posting to a Zombie Thread . . . but I figured it is still a relevant post and didn't bother mentioning that this thread was being brought back from the dead.
