Feeling the Heat
Well I finally have my wood hauler back on the road (new front clip, new clutch and some minor engine work).

Did not overload the bed since I was hauling 30 miles away (mostly highway) - time for some bed rails!

Nothing wrong with that wood hauler.

Nice truck, back when GM made good trucks......................

Nice
Barely loaded. You need some side boards.

I'm thinking a "wild card" if the Steelers make the play-offs.
O line needs to pick it up.
Go Steelers

K-20?

Yep, 1976 K20. 350 with the SM465 (4sp granny), NP205 transfer case, 4:10 gears and the 14 bolt full floater...its a tank.

completely agree...after the 73-87 line, they went downhill IMO.

Yep, once I get another free weekend I'm making sideboards for it. I'm getting around 11-12mpg loaded down, so I need to max out my load....empty I might get 13, so the additional weight does not seem to make much of a difference.

You got that right about the o-line....if they don't pick it up, we'll be out of QB's by mid season. I'm not sure if I'd sell them short yet (being the wildcard) - in a couple weeks they have the test (Patriots then Baltimore again - back to back).

Had an 74 Ford 250, with a 390, 2 WD & side boards, 4 on the floor, Heavy duty split 17" rims with bias 6-ply tires 11- 12 MPG. (a tank, tough truck * like the 70's Steelers)
Loaded what would fit, 11- 12 MPG. (Granny would idle out of frozen swamps with a full load of green birch, but had to chain up.)
Nice thing was the headlights didn't point to the moon when loaded.
Now I have an 8' X 10' single axle trailer. 1/2 load in the truck (Tundra) & an almost full trailer, lights point to the moon. But haul just a little more than a cord. 16 MPG loaded/ 20 empty.
Lot nicer ride too.

At least they are home games, we have a chance. Ravens look tough this year, division winners IMO, We may beat the Pats. But to beat the Ravens, our "D" needs turn overs & our QB ***No turn overs***
Win 3 out of the next 5 & after the bye, 5 & 1 to make the "play offs". Doable IMO

You just need a more HD setup. My Ram 2500 might sag down 2.5-3" at most with a load of wood. The last load I hauled I had 4 cords between the truck and trailer. Could fit more, it's just that is all that I had bought.

We'd stand a better chance against the Ravens if the two Ray's took a vacation.

Great truck,

I had a 84 with the same specs as yours. I added one ton leaf springs and a detroit locker. It was a beast in the woods. I had to travel too far to haul wood so I ended up selling it. Wish I would have kept it.

Heck, the ride in my C3500 just gets to "tolerable" with a 1/2 cord of pin oak in the bed! Don't ask what the MPG is with that 7.4L. lol

My Canyon can tow quite a bit if I borrow my buddy's 16' tandem axle landscape trailer. (Single axle puts too much tongue weight on the truck) I can't pile it on but 1.5 cord is certainly doable and the MPG is fantastic if I can keep it at 55.

LOAD THAT BABY !

I'm usually not a fan of white pick ups, but this one looks sharp . . . I think it's the black accents.

Nah, it's probably the load of firewood. Can't think of a truck that would look bad with a bed full of firewood!

Firewood . . . the ultimate accessory for a pick up. :)
