I have an englander 25-PDV and want to add a thermostat, from what I've read I need to remove the jumper wire on the stove and hook two wires from the thermostat. (Guessing its the red and white wires) Does it matter which wire goes to which contact on the stove?

No. Just hook to the W & RH terminals on the stat. If the stat has a jumper wire, remove that one too.

I left the jumper wire on the thermostate were it was from factory white to white and red to rh or one with the jumper

I,m ready to hook up a t-stat to my 49-trcpm as well.
There are alot of different stats out there.
I know about removing the jumper in the stove.
A better description of a basic hook up with which type of stat?
A believe it needs to be millivolt up to 24V, not line voltage?
I don't think programmable is necessary, but good to have, most are now.
What advantages are there?
Heard on-off or high-low can be changed on stove?
I,m new to this but learning alot from this site.
One thing was changing the bottom 3 buttons.
Went from 1-4-1 on 5-5 to 1-3-1 on 5-5 and temp went up 15 degrees (thanks again, still experimenting).
I am trying to dial it in then leave on a stat so i can leave it running.

You slowed the air going through the stove, and recovered more heat.

Finally getting around to hook up a thermostat. Im a little confused and don't want to break something... im trying to remove the jumper wire on the stove control panel. Its a little black square piece that has two screws in the center and two little holes one above each screw. Do I take this black piece off, or do the wires go in the holes above the screws?

Picked up a "Robertshaw" programable like the other 2-in the house for the force hot air system.
At least i've had good luck with them and can easilly program the same.
The install instructions say for heat only to remove the jumper on the stat.
I'll remove the one in the stove as well, according to Englander.
Still playing with heat settings.
Cold and rainy all day left it running while at work with the wife home.
She called said it shut down, i can home cleaned, re-fueled and restarted.
Can't wait to get the right vacume!!
Got 14hrs out of a bag before it shut down.

Should I still be able to control the blower speed and how hot the stove gets with the buttons on the stove?

Yes....all the stat does is turn the stove on or off. The control panel buttons are separate.

Most people just buy a small shop vac that has the ability to use drywall filters in it. Just make sure the stove has been cold for at least an hour before vacuuming.
