Well I want to thank everyone for the design ideas for my wood box. I ended up putting one together out of an old dresser I was sending to the dump. I hate throwing anything away so feels good to save it from the scrap heap. I took all the guts out of it and reinforced walls with cheap pine boards put a hinge on the top and hinged front. Then I painted it with something called Milk Paint really great product. it soaks in like a stain and wont crack or peal gives it an old fashioned look my wife really likes. whole thing cost about $15 dollars to make. It is 39 inch x 20 inch and about 27 inch deep so I should be able to get a good amount of wood in it. Just thought I would post a few pics of it. Thanks again to the members of this forum for the design ideas.

I like that. Looks nice. Be warm.

Nice job. Your obviously a very good carpenter.

i love it! that looks great!

That is a nice piece of furniture.

Very nice indeed. Have you considered putting a set of casters on the bottom so you can wheel it closer to the door for reloads? Not sure if that would work with your situation, but wanted to throw it out there.

Darn it . . . makes my cobbled together woodbox look like something a third grader would build at camp. ;) :) Very nice . . . looks beautiful . . . and cheap . . . a nice combination.

OHHH, modesty......stop it. I still like your box better.....and WILL get around to building one just like it soon. :)

Hope my wife isnt looking over my shoulder, Ill be attempting to make one of them too if she does.

Very nice
Good idea, did you just make it from scratch or did you have plans.

My wood box. I think it's some of that "This End Up" furniture. I found it in the alley (free). Works well at the cabin...

The box sort of made itself. I had a beat up dresser and was just going to rip off the top and take out the insides, then reinforce floor with plywood but after I tore it apart and reinforced the floor. I looked at the pieces left over and the pile of scrap pine I had in the corner and 4 beers latter it started to look a little like the finished product.

This End Up is good stuff. Used a lot of that in my day.

Nope . . . my black cat is a little more svelte . . . and the tips of her ears are frostbit and she's missing the tip of her tail from frostbite.

Up close and personal it's not as fancy . . . but it gets the job done.
