Just got back from Colorado, tried to catch some of the Aspen in fall colors. Went through Salida and took backroads to Old Monarch pass and Black Sage pass. Lots of color and nice dirt roads. Then went through Pitkin over Cumberland pass, lost of snow up there. On to Tincup and went above Tincup to Mirror lake. Great camping there, small Forest Service campground. No one was there probably because they were forecasting snow in the next few days. Did some hiking and just general bumming around. The next day the snow started in, had about 3" by noon and we decided it was time to leave. Taylor Park had quite a bit of snow also. We then headed to the north rim of the Black Canyon. Guess what more snow, just a few spits though. After that we went to the Colorado National Monument. Really a cool place. Went south from there on 141 (awesome canyon road) and went on forest roads towards Montrose. Camped in another great Forest Service campground called Iron Springs. Got up early because of the furnace malfunctioning and headed to the Great Sand Dunes. They had snow on them. All in all it was a great trip through some of the best country I can think of.

great pictures, sounds like you had a nice "tour" of Colorado.

I used to ride dirt bikes around the tin cup/pitkin/st. elmo area, one of the greatest places to play I've been. Hope you stopped at Frenchy's for breakfast.

Frenchy's was closed for the season. I was looking forward to stopping there, I read a writeup in ADV rider forum about it. They had some good looking food.

It's a nice place to eat, but judging by your photos and description it wouldn't have made the highlight reel anyway.

Great pics . . . would love to see more.

Here's some more. Monument rocks in western Kansas. The size of the formations is deceiving, They are probably about fifty feet tall. Black Canyon is deceiving also, you can't believe how deep it is. Something like 1,500 feet deep.

Beautiful country.
Great pics.

Beautiful pics! Fall is the one season when I really miss Colorado. The drive over 550 from Montrose to Durango is one of the most amazing roads in the country.

Jerome, thanks for posting those beautiful pictures.

Looks like home to me :)

Nice photos!
Thanks for the post.
