Well just about time to get the stove started up. Does anyone know how to advance the auger to get the pellets to start to fill the pot?
Every year when I startup the stove it takes about twenty minutes for the auger to get pellets into the pot the first time.
During this time the ignitor is on the whole time which I don't like.

Does anyone know how to advance the auger to start to fill the pot without the ignitor being on?

Thanks,
PR

I just throw a good sized handfull in the pot, when the auger is dry.

Haven't missed an ignition yet.

Same here, just a handful in pot on first startup will do it.

I agree here. When and if my hopper runs empty I always throw a handful in the burn pot.

That works fine until they burn out.

Remember when you have an empty hopper and you fill it up, startup "takes 15-20 minutes the first time" to get pellets from the hopper to the pot.

So you handful is long burnt out.

KAP any way to advance the auger without the ignitor being on?

I just throw a SMALL handfull in the burn pot, and they (I have 2) start on the first try. Do you have other issues with your Quad?

As for advancing the auger, I do not know how.....

Jeez, I dunno -

When I fired up my MT Vernon for the first time a couple weeks ago, I just threw in a good sized handful of pellets and she fired right up with no problems. I see you have a MT vernon too. Does this procedure not work for you?

handfull should work make sure you have it on the right fuel setting that can change the feed rate

That's exactly what I did, I put in 3/4 of a cup in the pot and put the stove on manual high to get the highest feed rate.
