18 below zero here in allenspark CO. WHOOOO HOOOO i love it when my nostrils freeze shut. I cant wait till morning when it will be 10 degrees colder. Maybe my radioactive avatar will keep me warm.

-20 here in Wis this morning. My new fireview is still hot with lots of coals. Basement is toasty 77 deg, but the thermostat for the furnace is located upstairs and is set at 68 and it has been kicking on a few times in the last hour. This evening I'll turn the thermostat down to 65 and see what happens.

3* here in Michigan and windy but I am located on Lake Michigan therefore a little moderation of the temps. My coal insert is keeping my first floor living room at 71* but the perimeter rooms on the first floor are about 64*. Wife just asked me to turn on the ole NG....first time since early December!

Feeling the Heat
-41C, or -41.8 F here this morning, with wind chill (according to conversion feature on Weather Network website).
Of course, I don't think wind chill affects inanimate objects (does it?), so without wind it is -31 Cf or about -24 F.
Summit is keeping up, but I do have to stoke a bit more. Furnace kicked in for a short time at around 6 this morning, but only because I was too lazy to drag my fat "donkey" out of bed and throw a few more splits in.
We have a saying that "Don't worry about the weathter, you can't chan ge it anyway.
Regardless, my 11 year old daughter is still looking forward to her cross country ski practice with her team later on today. I wish I had her youthful energy and ambition. All I want to do is sit in front of the Summit and watch skiing on the Winter Olympics. :red:

They were telling us that we were going to drop to the low teens, but thank goodness that hasn't happened. Looks like the polar high is moving eastward. We only got down to the mid-20's but with a steady wind. Yesterday was a 2 bagger on the pellet stove, first time that's happened since I installed the stove. First thing this morning I fired up the Jotul and the pellet stove's quiet now. It needs a cleaning, so we'll run on the woodstove for the rest of the day.

Great, there doing rolling blackouts in boulder today. Its fun to sell heat in the dark. At least its warm in here. I almost overfired the 7100fp fireplace this morning, with no fan the top was getting a little cherry.

Lit the Winter Warm Large up first thing. Haven't done that for quite a while.
My neighbor was burning his open fireplace this afternoon. Smoked up the whole neighborhood. I wish he knew he was costing himself money. He just cut about two cords of wood from his dead trees. I'm worried if he burns too much, too often, other neighbors will start to complain about the smoke and make wood burning a higher visibility activity with a potential backlash. I wish he was a suburban stealth burner, like me.

Meanwhile, its 8 degrees out here on the east end, and the wind-o-meter is showing a constant 30 knots gusting 37 or so. Tossing in a few pieces of dimensional lumber with the splits for an extra added heat boost.

Our low today was -31. Right now it's -25 (w/ windchill) -14 without. I'm sure the -31 included windchill as well but they didn't specify on the news.

16 degrees. tossed my last 2 splits onto the coals about 45 minutes ago. It's just starting to get light outside. I thinki I'm gonna have to go out there and fill another bin with wood. Was hoping to lim my way thru a couple hours without doing that but it's just not getting warm here. I'm gonna have to feed the beast a bit to bring the stove temp up enough to engage the cat.
