Hi everyone,

I've been reading the forum for 3 months now and looking to purchase an insert. I've been to about 3 dealers in the area and found some good and some shady advice. I've got a 55 year old 1200 sq. ft raised ranch with an interior chimney. I'm pretty sure I've got my stove choices narrowed down based upon what I've read here, but I'm looking for people that can recommend a good semi-local stove shop to purchase and install my insert. I had my chimney cleaned in December, but the sweep who I used was not CSIA certified so I'm not comfortable having him install an insert. He did fine cleaning it though.

So does anyone have any suggestions for dealers/installers in SE PA? That's the hard part of the stove reviews. I can't do a keyword search to see if anyone has purchased from local shops.

Eric do this: Ask the chimney sweep how many stoves he has installed? Ask for a reference to one or two and make a couple calls.
Since he has already done decent work for you why not find out if he is capable to install. I can tell you I can install that stove and I have never swept a chimney other than my own. I do not have CSIA. I can also install spark plugs and not be a certified mechanic.
What I am telling you is find out if he is capable. In the real world many times only the company owner is certified, and his worker are not but they do the install. The State of MA does not even reconise CSIA. The CSIA is a good program and certification, but that does not mean others, not certified are not capable installers.
 
Been about 10 yrs since I've been there, but look for a shop in phoenixville. Don't remember the name, but my parents always had good luck with them.

I dont recall the name of the place..but off 202 right on the state line with DE there was a place that sold fireplaces. We used them to clean our chimney (or at least I remember it being them..wife made the calls and was there when they came to do the sweep). In any case..it's right on the norhtbound side of 202 right in or immediate to Concordville.
