So I have everything in place, a few chimney sections snapped together and in the attic, I'm at the point where its time to cut the roof. I used the supervent kit, which comes with 0/12-6/12 roof flashing. My pitch is about 8/12. Is there any possible way to use the flashing I have by snipping the top of the cone, or bending it somehow? It'd probably be easier to tell once I had it in place up on the roof, but I dont want to commit to cutting the roof and find out I cant finish the install.

The flashing I need is special order, and they told me they could have it by 11/11. I'd really prefer to not wait that long. In the event I can't use my current roof flashing, could I use flashing from a different system? Say the duravent one? If anyone has any suggestions/guidance it'd be greatly appreciated. I just wanna get this thing in and burning!

I would think that as long as the pipe OD is identical, you would be ok with another brand flashing. 6" ID Supervent should be 8" OD. Where did you get the kit? Have you tried other vendors to get the proper Supervent flashing?

Kit was from Lowes. I see the super pro flashing available on a few websites and selkirks website says supervent and superpro are interchangeable. Was just trying to save a few bucks if possible. I'll just go ahead and order the super pro one.

A side note, all of these products seem readily available from Sears, Home Depot in Canada. And for much cheaper...I wonder if they ship store to store.

If ordering online I would call Sean at www.dynamitebuys.com. He is knowledgeable and their service is good. But first call around to your local Sears and Home Depots to see if you have a local option.

Thanks for the link....that price is half what it is most other places.

Edit: says takes 3 weeks for selkirk products to ship. I'll pay the extra money. Thanks tho

Ask Sean about substituting the DuraVent flashing. I think it will be fine, but I would like to get a second opinion.

If you don't want to wait, I know that Best Fire in Green Island, NY
has the proper pitch flashing. Phone is 518.687.2388 (7:30 - 4 M-F)
They carry the ICC EXCEL chimney systems...
They're about 3 hours north of you & maybe a 7 hour round-trip.
Don't know what the price is, but you won't have to wait 3 weeks.

I was able to order the flashing from another site (at almost double the price) but they say it ships next business day, so I'll take it. Thanks for the suggestion

I know you already got it ordered and all but another plan of attack is getting your measurements and slope and going to a local sheetmetal place. If you have any in your area. Most of them have made atleast one or two roof flashings. I had to get one for my install but its a fabricated chase so I needed the square top to fit over it. They had it in one day.
