X2 on the surge protector.

Looks awesome. I see you have the 2-in-1 Wall thimble. Did you install an OAK on the stove?

Congrats on the purchase. get ready for the sickness that ensues.

Hi all. Thanks for the compliments. Yes, an OAK is installed. as for pellets, I have one ton of Hamer Hot Ones and 2-1/2 tons of Homestead Premium. As for the stove itself, not so good news. Right after the installers left the feed motor started making rattling and squeaking noises (among a few others) every time it came on. They are coming back to look at it next Thursday. Probably needs a new feed motor. Little pissed off about that as Harmans are supposed to be top of the line. But the dealer was great, and said that anything wrong with the stove will be corrected. We'll see. I'm still running it as even though it makes those sounds, it still works great. Dealer, though, said I shouldn't run it if it's making those noises

My P43 makes similar noises with certain pellets. Barefoots and Green Supreme make it sound like it's tearing itself apart. Anyway, the good thing is that he said they will take care of you. Although I think they should get back to you sooner than next Thursday. IMHO

jcbart - you have excellent taste in stoves ;) Hope you get that rattle worked out.

I see you are in Southest Pa. what dealer did you buy your stove from?
Ed

Ed, I went with Ambler Fireplace & Patio in Colmar off Route 309. It was between them and E & E Chimney in Fairless Hills. Both were around the same price. I was and am happy so far with Ambler. The installers were excellent and did a nice job. I am, however, like I said earlier, ticked off about the problems with the stove. For instance, they'll be out next Thursday to check it out, and by the time they get the replacement part, come back and replace the feed motor it'll probably be at least 4 weeks from the time I had the stove initially installed.

These units are built from pieces that are jobbed out/out sourced and sometimes they get a bad few in the mix. Just happened last season to some of the guys that bought the Enviro M55 cast stoves. One fella needed 2 before the stove was tiptop again. Not really Harmans fault. It happens to them all.

Welcome and congrats!!
We are starting our 4th year with the P61 and love it!
Keep it clean and it will run well.
Nice looking install!

Enjoy the heat :)

I bought a P-61A in june......been running 24-7 for a week now and my entire house (1900sq ft) has been at 72 degrees throughout....I know it's not cold yet but in the 30s and 40s with cold rain.
Best thing I have done in 10 years!! I love this stove.....had about 8 bags total burned and I am cleaning it this weekend.

Good luck with the stove and enjoy, don't worry they will take care of the problem and you'll be in heat heaven this winter.

Is a hearth pad that large required?

No its not. Refer to the manual for requirements. Pay special attention to the R value required. A type 1 hearth pad which is ember protection only and R=0 will not do the trick. A thermal protection type 2 is required.

No it isn't. It's a 48" corner hearth pad, but I could have easily gotten away with a 40" or even 36" one. I got this one for 1/2 price from the same place I bought my stove. It's American Hearth grey slate pad. Nice enough, but I would've picked a different color (lighter) and smaller size. My wife hates it and I can see us getting a new one by next year.
