Pulling out SS liner

Gotcha. Ok, is there a minimum heighth a block off plate has to be from the stove top? I can put one in about 4-6 inches above my stove around the 30 elbow. It's tough to see, but you can see the lentil, I would install a block plate about 2 inches above the lintel.

That will be fine. It is just to hold the heat in the fireplace. Above the lintel is where it ought to be.
 
taking out the old liner to install a new one?
