Are these good wood furnaces?

If I were in the used market I'd request pictures of the burner ID tags from the people selling the units. Once you have the ID tag check google for reviews both good and bad. That would be a painless way to start your research...
 
The first furnace is still being made. I wouldn't even consider it, the white on the front of the unit is a sign of overfiring. Especially when there's no blower to remove the heat from the jacket. The second furnace is still made also. Both units have low efficiency, and are grossly oversized for your home. When operating your home would be so hot, you would be forced to reduce the fire. This in return could cause dangerous buildup in the chimney. There's not a whole lot of options for furnaces in smaller homes.
 
I think that I am going to purchase the hotblast stove. It says that it is rated for 2500 Square feet. Are there any objections to this? I want to make the right decision here.

What should i look for before I purchase?

What should I look for with the wood stove. Something that may throw a red flag.
