All but one call so far this burn season is a #2 flash or a related diagnostics indicator. It all boils down to a dirty stove. I am just throwing this out there so you can use this information how you please.

Eric

When you do these service calls, do you educate the stove owner on how to do a proper cleaning, or do you let it ride and wait for the same call the following year?

Yep, not surprising....I think MOST pellet stove problems can be traced back to this.

Keep up the good work Eric. :)

Somehow I think that if you knew Eric, you wouldn't be asking that question!

Although I don't know Eric personally, I would have to assume he would lean towards education.

But........business is business!

Yes business is business but a service call for a cleaning and a service call for an auger not turning or a #2 indicator light is the same thing.

The selling dealer is the first to be yelled at and the home owner is the second. 90% of a stoves cleaning is in most owners manuals. There is no reason a stove owner should not have read the manual. Yes there are stoves without dealer support but all new stoves come with the manual and all stove makers have their manuals available on line. Dealer support should be mandatory on all appliances, in my opinion. This how we get improper installations (over the EVL) and services calls for "dirty stove" issues.

Funny how you read about "house fires" from a pellet stove. Yes accidents happen but I would bet 90% of fires are from improper installations.

I agree with you 100%.

I certainly am in position to question that %, however, I would like to add that there have been way too many house fires related to improper handling of the stove's ashes. What memory I may have left recalls many of the house fires discussed here have had some improper handling of ashes connection. Installation, or handling of ashes. All preventable, and not as such, stove failure.

I'd bet most people here do their own oil changes too. The guy with the 2 blink error doesn't.
