Seems like a big waste of wood to me, but some folks are thin-blooded. Ironically they are often the same people turning on the air conditioning the moment the temperature gets over 75. Go figure.

My other half has a 4 degree comfort zone. Above or below that, you will be burning something (trons or fuel). :blank:

My Mom was like that too. But at 90 to 100 yrs old she had a reasonable excuse. :)

Came home from work yesterday and it was 92 in the stove room. Reminded me why a small fire every night might be better than packing the stove before heading to work. My cockatiel lives in that room, so I started wondering if I'd be smelling burnt chicken soon. I looked at the stove top thermometers and they both said low 300s, but walking into the room honestly felt like that burst of heat you get when opening the oven door when baking.

Danno, I bet your cockatiel was breathing with its beak open....that's what my parrot does when he is too hot... kinda like dogs "pant"...
you are gonna cook that poor bird.....

For me and mine, if we can't walk around in shorts and tank tops, it's too cold. It's 78 right now. Niiiiiice......

Man, if I had my house as warm as some of you are claiming, I wouldn't be able to stand the high pitched whine.

If you put a BIG block of cheese next to the high pitched whine, you'll probably end up with a party, and @ those temps it will probably end up as a fondue.................

We keep our thermostat set at 78* in the summer. Shoulder season temps can very inside, but once the winter cold sets in, it feels kinda chilly below 77* w/50% humidity (from the pot on the stove). It's shorts and t-shirts for me in the winter.

I'd rather sweat than shiver.

As much as I'm freaked out by the high temps some of the peeps desire I can appreciate your last sentiment since I've gotten old(er)...crap! Used to walk around in a t-shirt and a leather vest in this and colder weather and now I try to not to forget my Yankee cap...sheesh.

Yeah, it 75-80 throughout the house, but I'm more interested in January and February temps. That's what killed me last year with all the short load times.

But, the house is warmer with less wood consumption, that's progress.

Didn't say i liked 80's or 90's but the darned stove don't know any better.lol Small load in today.Getting the temps figured for diff parts of the house. It takes awhile to get this darned air moved just the way ya want it.It's not easy starting out that's for sure.72 to 74 would be great.I believe it's just that in this livingroom.
