Maybe just my stove, but these Pennington's are the lowest heat producers I've used so far...
I will say, burn time was up with some of my Fav's.. just very low heat.

I have them at 37% less heat then my favorites (Fireside Ultra's).

Again, maybe just my stove, but do you folks find the same with them??

Nope. They are garbage. I have tried them several times now. From different stores and have pics showing that the colpr can be different from one store to the next. Last uear I grabbed 2 bags from HD and 2 from Wal Mart. They were 2 totally different pellets. Different length, different color, one had a PFI logo, the other different. The ONLY thing they had in common.

They all sucked.. I measure heat output also (just updated to a new K type thermocouple) and have found your number to be very accurate. Terrible pellet.

Natures choice
Natures heat
Infernos

All terrible.....

I bought two bags of Natures choice just to see what a crappy pellet is like. :bug:

Pennington makes different pellets. I have four bags of Pennington Oak (yellow bag) that are made in Greenfield, MO. They are made at their grass seed plant. Burned half bag (came with the used stove I bought) and look kinda like greenway.

And yoh shall see... See the ash, see the frost on your skin, see your stove froth and vomit from the pellet chute, the most disgusting Fiberous material ever pressed into pellet form..... And put forth Zero heat in the process.

Only then will you SEE yourself NEVER purchasing them again. LOL.

It is a good idea to burn them. So you know what NOT to burn/do.

Agreed. I will never try them again. Low heat is and understatement. Pellets dropping into the burn pot were choking out the flames on the ones i had tried.

Dont let the guys at lowes try to tell you they are one of the highest BTU pellets in the USA. Like i was informed of this past weekend. I think they would be fine for hamster or rabbit litter though.

Not if you want them to live! Them there pellets are made from some material that could be classified as hazzardous waste. Not really but sounded good! Shhh, hehe!

And the Choir chimes "Amen"!
I have seen, I have learned and never again to stray!
I've felt the heat...
I've seen the burn...

Forgive me my Brother.... for my mis-ways...

Loved the post and had to reply!

Oh you have never lived till you have used a Michigan Brand Pellet ..yuck ..

I fired a harman accentra fs yesterday and the homeowner had penningtoons in it. It took about 10 minutes of igniter on for the pellets to lite! The outsides of the burnpot started to smoke from the summer dust ect. before the pellets would ignite.

Ok when you pay $150 a ton for them like last yr at Sam's Club!, have a few bag's left, burning today INSTANTHEAT-LESS!!, even worse than Pennington's
Shoulder season as we speak!, with a foot of snow on the way!!

Lets say If there was only 2 brands available in your area(pellet shortage maybe?). Pennington and Inferno. I'd take the pennies.

Anyone else?

I would take them over the Inferno's and I never tried them.

Usually on setting 2 (3.25lbs/hr) I get temps between 215-230....With Inferno's i had to turn it up to 3 (5.2lbs/hr) and would only get about 200.....never mind some massive clinkers.

Just showing the type of Penningtons that i have on hand. I know they make some for wal-mart but these are from Missouri near Springfield.

I have seen them on Craiglist. A guy near me (Wooster) has 8-9 ton he wants to sell. I was gonna to get a few bags to try. But he will only sell by the ton. They are all OAK. Which makes me wonder how they compare against the other Penningtons Natures Junk..

One of the WORST pellets ever, barely got a fire going in my Accentra FS. I plan to use the other three bags as ice melt!!

I had the ones from Walmart last season for testing and was pleasantly surprised, they would beat Dry Creek and NEWP and were on par with Lignetics....go figure. The only reason I do not buy them by the ton is I have no confidence I will get the same stuff ever again, so I would have to run to Walmart, get some bags - test them- find them OK (or not) and run down again to buy all the others (hoping they did not switch the crate on me in the meantime)....way too much trouble.

But apparently they can make good pellets...

I burned 2 ton of the Natures Heat in 2009, worked ok for me, but haven't had any since. The ones on the left

I have the Penningtons from Greenfield Mo. I think they have less ash than the Greenway and put out about the same heat. Rocky Mt. has the least ash and alot of heat but are higher.
Pennington 200 ton at local dealer
Greenway 169.50 ton at Lowes
Rocky Mt. 209 ton at Southerlands

I just went to the Scarboro Walmart. I purchased 3 bags of these. I burned all 3 this past weekend and was very pleased with these. Good heat and quite clean.

Out West we have Natures Fuel, made in Idaho and they are like burning popcorn. In order to get 40 pounds in a bag the bags are stretched to the limit. Worst pellet fuel I have ever used...
