Seen several "for sale" flyers around town for this thing... what do y'all think of it? I, of course, don't have a fireplace for it, just curious if it would actually make an open fireplace more efficient or not...

Umm, link? Not sure what this is.

Even w/out the link, I'm willing to bet it's a grate made of exhaust tubing.

Yep..open "headers" I bet..lol.

oops! Somehow the link didn't show up in the post & I didn't notice it! Sorry BG & Pen! :red:

Furnace for your Fireplace

...and Pen, you appear to be pretty practiced in your physic abilities, as you pretty much decribed what it is ;-)

Whoa Pen & Hot Coals! You guys are good.

Yeah..but that's the first time I have seen turbo chargers hooked up to them like that..lol.

I used something like that for a couple of seasons on a ZC prefab before tearing the whole thing out. We had it made at a muffler shop for 1/2 the price. It "seemed" to work but in the end I think it was just an illusion of sorts. You could never get the coals to fully burn and depending on where the wood got placed you'd get a lot of smoke back into the room and had to constantly tend to the fire. Anyway, glad to be done with it and replaced the whole thing with with a cozy Lennox Ladera (BIS NOVA).

doesn't appeal to me, even though I DON'T have a fireplace. I don't like the looks, the wires..........

Nah, nope, nada, uhuh, .......

Those things are just awful. Anyone who would design something that requires three separate blowers...well you get my drift. It's a cheap assemblage of probably readily available parts and some bits of tubing. I wouldn't want all the electrical wiring laying about out in front of the fireplace. One of those blowers probably puts out enough for all three tubes.

At that MSRP I fail to see how it 'saved' anyone from anything.

Judging by the way your munchkins are dressed inside the house, I would say this rig was a FAIL.

hahaha - ya a total bust. It was all from spare parts and krap just sitting around so I'm glad I didn't go retail for this. This year I'll have them cruising in their cruisers and we'll be lounging with some Mojitos with some Cuban beach music in the background :)
