Im in bedminster. Off the top of my head, the place in warren (near the center of town on Wash Valley road has a wood split wall that must be seasoned. Talk to them about truly seasoned wood. Im sure they have it for themselves.
Also the place in Hillsborough on 206 north near IHOP, also has walls of wood that must be seasoned.

Free Seasoned Firewood (Martinsville-Bridgewater)16:15 11/7/2011, craigslist nNJ "firewood"
Free seasoned firewood. Some is already split. Home is for sale and buyers do not want the wood. Address is 34 Hillcrest Road Martinsville NJ 08836. The wood pile is located on Washington Avenue next to driveway. It all must go! Please feel free to pull into the end of the driveway to load wood but dont' drive onto grass. Thanks!

He wants over $800.00 per cord for that wood. But that's OK, because on their web site, they say it's "gourmet" wood  There is a guy on 22 east in Green Brook or Watchung that is selling grey, seasoned firewood. I don't know the name.

You must be talking about the guy near the dinner, on a corner. His wood is terrible, if we are talking about the same guy.

Who wants $800 per cord?

Umm . . .it only got down to the upper 40's last night, and it'll be in the 60's for a few days. A box of toothpics should be enough fuel.

If you wanna go really cheap, pick up boxes at Aldi's and/or pick up all the used chopsticks at all the Asian restaurants in town!

no the guy on route 22east that you mentioned, its actually in scotch plains, unless your talking about someone else. I purchased a trunk load of wood from him just to test it out and the wood was pulled from the wall, was VERY difficult to get going. i would guess its only about 4-5 months old, and the price isnt that great, if i am going to buy wet wood i can do better on the price.

$800 bucks for a cord of "gourmet" wood is bullshit. cheaper to set your thermostat on 85 and just pay the gas bill.

BTW i went by there this afternoon with a pick up truck and someone must have beaten me too the punch and picked all the good wood because there was not much there and what was there was mostly rotted out.

Here is a link to their pricing page:

http://www.jerseyfirewood.com/Pricing.aspx

They want $175.00 for 40 cubic feet of unseasoned wood (or, $530.00 for a full cord of unseasoned wood), $803.00 for a cord of kiln dried wood, and $681.00 for a cord of air dried wood. I used to drive by that place to and from work every day, and while they have stacks that are a bleeping mile long, none of the wood appeared grey. My guess is that the stuff sits for a few months and they call that "seasoned". It's better than if it was just split and left ina pile, but for the moneyh they want, I'd just as soon buy "pile" wood and let it sit for a couple of years. They probably cater to the casual fireplace burner who wants a fire in their fireplace on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

yeah ive seen these guys before, there pricing is criminal. i know of a guy that sells 1 year old cords that have been split and stacked for a year and burns pretty damn good, but he went up on his pricing and will not negotiate. His pricing used to be 180 a cord now its 280 a cord. He is in martinsville or bridgewater i forget which town but thats still more than i am willing to pay. But you can get it for 250 if you pick it up yourself.

There is a place in scotch plains called "the yard", they have some what decent prices, and there wood is stacked on a pallet properly (not sitting in a big pile), they claim its one year old stuff and it probably is but they usually have really heavy dense wood that just takes forever to season. My next cord will likely be from these guys if i cant find any better deals, because of price, and ive found that it burns somewhat ok after sampling a trunk load from them.

I was referring to the place on Washington Valley road in Warren. I'm sure it not cheap but they have a much bigger yard than the place your referring to on 22.

Just picked up some firewood from this ad. i picked up what i believe is black locust, maple or ash (hopefully ash), and a bit of unknown stuff. There is still plenty left, there is a lot of pine i would say about 40% is pine, if i had to guess i would say there is about 10-12 cords of wood there maybe more, only problem is that the majority of the wood will require a heavy duty splitter because most of the pieces are not straight, There is atleast 2-3 cords worth of straight wood there but you will have to dig through the pile and its heavy. I will post some pictures of what i picked up soon, its too dark out right now. Easy access too, just back your truck right up to the pile.
